Daifukuji Temple (Gake Kannon)
"The popular name for Daifukuji Temple is ""Gake Kannon"" (""Cliff Kannon""). Located in Funakata in the city of Tateyama, it was founded by the Nara period (eighth century) monk Gyoki, who was on a walking pilgrimage of the eastern provinces. It is said that he carved an image of Eleven-headed Kannon into the cliff face of Mt. Funakata as a way of praying for safety on the seas and bountiful fishing for the local fishermen. A temple devoted to Kannon is built in front of the image to guard it, and from inside, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Tateyama Bay and Izu Oshima Island."

- Small but nice
- The distance from car park to the temple was shorter than I expected. Free parking and no entrance fee too. It very unique and beautiful. Those visits Tateyama should come here. You wont regret it.
