Shojoji Temple

Temple
"This temple located in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture belongs to the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect, and it is the only Jodo Shinshu temple in the Uchibo area with its many Shingon sect temples. It is the location told in the ""Tanuki-bayashi,"" known as one of Japan's three great tanuki (racoon dog) legends, and the nursery rhyme ""Shojoji no Tanuki Bayashi"" (Racoon Dogs Dancing at Shojoji Temple) was also made based on this legend. In the autumn, the ""Tanuki Festival"" is held as a memorial service to tanuki."
