Saimyoji Temple

This Shingon Buddhist Sect Buzan School Temple in Mashiko City, Tochigi Prefecture is dedicated to the 11-headed Kanzeon Bodhisattva. The gabled thatched two-story gate and three-story pagoda constructed in 1492 and the miniature shine in the main temple hall that is said to be created during the Muromachi period have all been designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. A statue of a laughing Yama (king of Hell) next to the Bodhisattva Jizo who protects those who have fallen to hell is also found here at the temple. The laughing Yama (king of Hell) is said to be the incarnation of the jizo.

I loved this temple, it was one of my favorite places at Mashikos town mainly because you can be delighted with the lot of nature that surrounds it and the temple itself really makes you feel...

笑うえんま様のご朱印を、3度目にしてようやく頂きました。一度目はGW中で、書いてくださる方が隣のお蕎麦屋さんでお仕事中とのことで、無理でした。二度目は、不在とのことで、頂けたときは、「来る前にお電話を……」とのことで、確認した上で、頂けたこと、思いもひとしおです❤

坂東三十三観音巡礼にて訪問笠間→益子のシャトルバスに乗って陶芸メッセにて下車後40分以上歩いてアプローチ標高差100m程を登りました境内の階段を登り終えるととてもステキな佇まいの山門、三重塔そして本堂静かな空間が広がっています
