"This is a Soto sect temple in Shimonoseki City and the statue of ""Senju Kannon Bodhisattva"" is revered as the main idol of worship. The temple was established in 1327, and was designated as a national treasure during the Kamakura period (1185–1333) as an example of Zen Buddhist architecture. It is also known as a place of many historical events. There is a statue of Takasugi Shinsaku on horseback in the precincts and the temple loved by history fans."
