The museum here operates out of a house once inhabited by a merchant family during the Edo and Meiji eras. Within, you can see recreations of a pharmacy and a typical house from the period and learn about how people once lived in Uchiko. Be sure to listen to the museum’s speaking mannequins.

- Uchikoza Kabuki Theater

- A trip to this traditional theater, one of only 20 in Japan, should not missed. Built in 1916, it was renovated in 1985 after being saved by Uchiko's residents. Visitors are encouraged to fully appreciate the architecture. You are free to cross the “hanamichi,” or catwalk, onto the revolving stage, and even check out the stage trapdoor.
