Need a fresh air? Then head further into the mountains of Nagatoro to take full advantage of its nature alongside the raging Arakawa river with adrenaline-pumping trip on boat and rafting or enjoy the sky with paragliding. Besides variety of outdoor sports, there are onsen (hot spring), camping grounds, and other requisites for a great weekend getaway. Another popular mountainous area would definitely be Chichibu, just one direct 90 minute train ride from Ikebukuro station in Tokyo. If you travel in late April to Hitsujiyama Park, you will witness an instagrammable shibazakura, a giant pink and purple carpet of tiny moss phlox.
