As soon as you check in at the hotel you’ll realise that The Millennials is at the forefront of innovative accommodation technology. Although the bathroom facilities are communal, they’re sparking clean and plentiful. The sleeping facilities are like nothing you’ve ever seen. Known as ‘Smart-Pods’, the beds are located inside capsule hotel-like spaces, but they go far beyond just that.

Each pod is controlled by an app which is central to every possible function inside. From the lighting and bed adjustment to airflow and alarm. The pods even have their own unique ‘soundless alarm’ where guests are woken by a preset system which will raise you to sitting position and brighten the lights in the capsule so you don’t wake the neighbours. The pods are also their own mini private theatre system complete with speakers and a projector which can be connected to your own personal device.

The hotel’s biggest attraction are its ‘art pods’ located on the fifth floor of the hotel. In each pod you’ll find a completely unique piece of work by some of the biggest names and most underground figures of the contemporary art scene. The piece you see here was created by Nara born, now Tokyo based sketch artist Mariya Suzuki who regularly contributes to an countless magazines, books and publications both here in Japan and across the world. The hotel commissioned the artists is one very strict brief, and that was feel free to paint freely, as a result this floor is arguably one of the most eclectic collections of immersive work you may ever get the the chance to experience.
