A lot of people like beer, but if you love beer, then be sure to head to Beer Inn Mugishutei. Japan’s beer scene may seem abysmal to beer connoisseurs, since plain lager is the most popular beverage at most bars, but this bar is like an oasis in a desert of blandness. Originally founded by an American in 1980, Bar Inn Mugishutei has evolved to reflect America’s booming microbrewery scene. The menu at this bar is anything but normal, with IPAs, fruit beers, stouts, saisons, and more from some of the best breweries in the world. For example, they are one of the few locations in Japan that carries Lost Coast Brewery’s Indica IPA, an intensely hoppy IPA with a floral finish. It would be hard to name all the beers they have in stock and on their rotating taps, because they have over 300 beers available at any given time. They also pride themselves on their wide selection of Tequila.

They food menu is also not disappointing for people wanting a taste of home, including burgers, fish and chips, and other bar staples starting at around 600 yen. This bar does have a cover charge of 900 yen, but their website says that they’ll wave the fee if you let them know it’s your first time visiting. Beer prices also start at around 600 yen, which is a steal considering the variety of beers available here are incredibly difficult to find in Japan.
