In a peaceful spot along the south side of Lake Akan, Akan Yuku no Sato welcomes guests in to enjoy a peaceful stay in the healing atmosphere of this onsen resort. Taking full advantage of its surrounding nature, the hotel not only provides guests with views out onto the lake and woodland from every window but also houses its own idyllic natural hot springs alongside the lake as well as a rooftop tub.

Guest rooms offer a fusion of Japanese and Western design with comfortable floor mattresses in the bedrooms with adjoining tatami rooms complete with traditional Japanese seating and an irori sunken hearth. Head just 10 minutes down the road and you’ll come to Hana Yuka, also known as the Forest of Akan Tsuruga Resort, which promises more affordable rooms than its sister hotel with one night starting at around 11,000 yen. On top of its in-house art gallery based on the theme of love, this Tsuruga branch boasts a top quality restaurant whose sophisticated seating area looks out onto the Forest of Akan. Making use of the abundance of locally grown ingredients in Hokkaido, the buffet menu offers a spread of delicious healthy dishes both Japanese and Western as well as a mouthwatering selection of desserts.

All guest rooms include a low Japanese chabudai table where Japanese tea can be enjoyed while enjoying the spectacular views over Lake Akan just a stone’s throw away. Thanks to the easy access to natural spring water in the area, guests can unwind at the onsen or treat themselves to a skincare treatment or massage at the spa. Though Hana Yuka is limited to an indoor hot spring, guests are invited to take the free shuttle across to Akan Yuku no Sato in order to enjoy the unbeatable outdoor onsen experience.
