1. Start by exploring the many shopping streets of Asakusa. Here you will find plenty of shops specializing in traditional Japanese goods and clothes such as kimonos, yukatas and geta footwear.
2. Head towards Sumida River, passing the famous department store Matsuya on your way there. It is one of the historic department stores in Tokyo which opened in 1931. We highly recommend that you check out their impressive selection of traditional sweets and confectioneries.
3. Grab a coffee or some ice cream and relax next to the river, admiring the skyline with Tokyo Sky Tree, the Asahi Breweries head office as well as their annex with the famous “golden turd” on top.
4. Walk over the red bridge and head over to Solamachi, the shopping and entertainment complex at the foot of Tokyo Sky Tree. While you are here we highly recommend you try some Amezaiku from Ameshin, a store that specializes in handcrafted candy, they will most likely be the most beautiful pieces of sweets you’ll ever get a chance to put in your mouth.
5. Admire the spectacular view from the highest structure in Japan. If possible, we suggest you arrive an hour or so before sunset, and then slowly watch the sky change colors and the city come alive some 350 meters down below. If you want to avoid the worst crowds you can pay an extra 1000 yen and get access get to the second observation deck, located even higher up.Asakusa Tobu Hotel
