1. Ameyokocho
Start by taking a stroll along the vibrant market street of Ameyokocho, one of the busiest of its kind in all of Japan, and enjoy the exciting atmosphere while browsing everything from fresh fish to fashion.
2. Ueno Park
Ameyokocho is so lively that it can be a somewhat tiring experience. Head over to nearby Ueno park where there are plenty of opportunities to wind down, either on the grass under blooming cherry blossoms, or in a rented boat floating leisurely on the Shinobazu Pond.
3. Museums
In and around Ueno Park you will find a plethora of museums. Covering everything from contemporary art to traditional japanese culture and the natural sciences, we can almost guarantee that you’ll find an exhibition that piques your interest.
4. Ueno Sakuragi Atari
Head over to this little block consisting of three showa era buildings turned into a bakery, a beer hall, a shop that specializes in japanese grown olive oil and an event space. The local craft beer comes highly recommended.- Ameyoko Shopping Street (Ameyoko)
