Money Exchange: Magnet by Shibuya 109

Situated just across the Shibuya Scramble from Shibuya Station, Magnet by Shibuya 109 is a popular fashion mall that also has a mechanical exchange machine. It’s located on the 1st floor and easy to find, with the shopping mall open from 11 am to 11 pm.
As with most currency exchange machines, you can select your language of choice, then just feed the notes in that you want to change into Japanese Yen. But as with other currency exchange machines, the rate is not so good. It’s a convenient spot to exchange money if you’re shopping at Magnet by Shibuya 109 or dining in the fancy food court “Mag 7” on the seventh floor. Just don’t get it mixed up with the famous Shibuya 109 shopping mall!

Air Trip Exchange: Shibuya Center-gai Shopping Street

Air Trip Exchange is a currency exchange counter that’s located conveniently on Shibuya Center-gai Shopping Street and relatively easy to find. It’s open from 11 am to 11 pm, so you can exchange money late at night, although the rate is not the best you can find in Shibuya.
On the plus side, they do exchange a lot of different currencies and are planning on offering Bitcoin exchange services and online currency exchange in the future. In addition to US Dollars, Euros and Chinese Yuan, you can also exchange Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Singapore Dollars and Great British Pounds. Hong Kong Dollars, New Taiwan Dollars, Thai Baht, Korean Won and Philippine Pesos are also accepted here.

    World Currency: Shibuya branch

If you’re looking for the security of a bank-style currency exchange facility, head to World Currency on the 7th floor of the Daigai Building. It’s easily accessed from the Hachiko Exit of Shibuya Station and just a short walk across the pedestrian crossing outside.

World Currency is one of the most famous networks of foreign exchange facilities in Japan and operated by a subsidiary of the Bank of Tokyo. While it supports a lot of currencies (19 at the time of writing), the rates are not as good as you can find elsewhere and you will need to bring your passport with you. Their opening hours are also limited, from 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday and from 11 am to 5 pm on weekends and public holidays.

Travelex: Shibuya store at Miyamasuzaka Resona Bank

Another secure option is the Travelex counter inside the Resona Bank on Miyamasuzaka Street, which is accessed from the northeast corner of Shibuya Station. Simply cross the street and you’ll end up on Miyamasuzaka.

While their rates are not as good as other foreign currency exchange shops in Shibuya, they do support a wide variety of currencies and also traveler's cheques. If you’re part of the Travelex Rewards Program, then it’s also worth heading here.

Keep in mind that their business hours are limited, with the bank open from 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 5 pm on weekends.

    San Ticket: Shibuya Ekimae shop

Just a three-minute walk from Shibuya Station, San Ticket foreign exchange branch offers competitive rates on a variety of different currencies. Simply walk towards Shibuya 109 and turn left at the Yoshinoya, then look for San Ticket’s bright yellow sign. Their rate is not the best in Shibuya but it’s not the worst either.

In addition to currency exchange services, the shop sells cheap tickets to a variety of events around Japan, as well as gift cards and JR train tickets. You can also store your luggage here if you want to explore the area. San Ticket is open from 11 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 7 pm on weekends.
