Narita Airport :Transportation Options for Traveling into Tokyo

One of the fastest ways to get from Narita Airport into Tokyo is on the JR Express Narita Express, which stops at Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Yokohama and Omiya stations,etc.
The journey takes around 50 minutes and costs 3,020 JPY, with the option to embark at the Narita Airport Station at Terminal 1 or the Narita Airport Terminal 2 Station. Tickets are available for purchase at ticket vending machines or online, as well as at the ticket sales counter in the arrivals lobby.

JR East Travel Service Center

If you’ve got aJapan Rail Pass or JR Tokyo Wide Pass, you can take the Narita Express for free, with designated seats issued to all ticket holders.
Free pass tickets are issued at the JR East Travel Service Center in the station or at ticket offices. Round trip tickets are also available at a discounted price of 4,000 JPY, saving you 2,040 JPY in total.

2.Narita Line

A more affordable option is theJR Rapid Narita Line into Tokyo Station, which costs 1320 JPY and takes around 100 minutes.
It departs from the same stations and can also be used by Japan Rail Pass and JR Tokyo Wide Pass holders. The downside of this train service is that it takes considerable time and you cannot always get a seat.

3. Access Express and Keisei Express Skyliner

If you’re heading to the eastern side of Tokyo (Nihonbashi, Ueno, Shinagawa or Asakusa Stations,etc.), consider taking the Access Express on the Keisei Electric Railway, which costs 1,330 JPY and takes around 60 minutes.
There are frequent train departures, although sometimes it can be difficult to find a seat. Another alternative is the Keisei Express Skyliner, which access Nippori and Ueno Stations.
It’s faster and takes only 40 minutes but the tickets are more expensive at 2,470 JPY.

In addition to trains, there are also buses traveling from Narita Airport into Tokyo along the expressways.
If you’re traveling to Tokyo Station, you can catch the Highway Bus Tokyo shuttle, which costs 1,000 JPY and takes around 60 minutes.
They depart every 20 minutes until late at night and are a good option for families, with children half price. Tickets can be purchased at sales counters in the arrivals lobby or on the internet, with a 100 JPY discount if booked two days in advance.

2.The Access Narita

If you’re traveling to Ginza Station, you should opt for Highway Bus The Access Narita, which also costs 1,000 JPY (500 JPY for children) and takes around 60 minutes. It offers the addition of a toilet. Tickets can conveniently be purchased onboard or at the terminal sales counter.
Keep in mind that if you’re arriving in the early morning or late at night, the bus will cost an additional 1,000 JPY.

3. Narita Shuttle

For those heading to Osaki Station and wanting to access nearby Shinagawa and Shibuya, jump aboard the Highway Bus Narita shuttle.
Tickets cost 1,200 JPY (or 1,000 JPY for advance web bookings) and the journey takes around 80 minutes. You can buy tickets at the terminal sales counters or onboard.

4. Limousine Bus

For a more luxurious journey, Limousine Bus, direct to your hotel, you can opt for the, which accesses Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station and Shinagawa Station, as well as major hotels in Ginza, Roppongi, Asakusa and Shibuya.
Tickets cost around 3,100 JPY and can be purchased from sales counters in the arrivals lobby, with the trip taking between 80 and 100 minutes.

Taxi

If you prefer to travel privately or are arriving late at night when the trains and buses are not operating, Narita International Airport Taxis offer fixed-price rates into Tokyo, with no reservation required.
Prices range from around 16,000 - 27,000 JPY, depending on the destination, with an additional "highway fee" of around 2,500 JPY.
The journey takes around 60 minutes depending on traffic, but the good news is that the price is fixed, so you won’t be charged extra if there is a traffic jam.

Alternatively, you can book ahead with TOKYO MK, with similar prices ranging from around 16,000 - 23,000 JPY and an additional "highway fee" of around 2,500 JPY. Web reservations can be made up until the day before departure.

Both types of taxis depart from the same 1F taxi stands at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Rental Car

If you want to rent a car to explore, Nippon Rentacar has daily hire rates of around 10,000 JPY for the first day and between 7,000-9,000 JPY for subsequent days.
You can book a car online or via the telephone and there are also rental counters on the 1F floors of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 that are open from 6:00 - 23: 00.

A rental car is recommended if you have a lot of luggage or are staying a long way from a train station, with the option to pick up the rental car at Narita Airport and return it elsewhere.
It’s important to keep in mind that gasoline costs are additional, making a rental car one of the most expensive options.

Free Shuttle Bus

There are free shuttle buses departing every 10 minutes to transfer you between the Narita Airport’s terminals, with stops on the 1F floors of Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

If you’re traveling between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, you can either take the short terminal connection bus or walk, which takes around 10 minutes.
