    HAKUBA VALLEY Kashimayari Ski Resort with its 15 fun and diverse courses has been expanded to make it even more enjoyable for everyone from beginners to advanced level skiers. Visitors enjoy the soft, natural snow there to their heart’s content. Their roughly three-kilometer-long-run called the Nakatsuna Super Rindou Course, is hugely popular with kids as well.
  • Shiga Kogen Ichinose Family Ski Resort

    This ski resort located in the central Shiga Kogen area lets visitors enjoy a long ski season lasting from mid-November to May. It extends from close to the summit of Mt. Higashidate through to the Terakoya Ski Area on the other side. The Perfecter Course with an average slope of 26 degrees is for advanced level skiers and is often used for racing. About 80% of the courses are for beginners and intermediate level skiers. Night skiing available on occasion.
  • Nomugi Toge Ski Resort

    At an elevation of 2,130 meters, with a difference in elevation of 730 meters and a total length of 4,000 meters, Nomugi Toge Ski Resort has fantastic downhill skiing with a sweeping view of Mt. Norikura and the Hotaka Mountains in the Northern Japan Alps, as well as Mt. Ontake. Although it’s primarily geared towards intermediate and advanced level skiers, there are facilities for beginners and families as well.

    With an elevation of 1515 meters at its highest part called Alps-daira Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort has some true alpine slopes. With an elevation as high as this powder snow and quality snow is all but guaranteed. The magnificent Northern Alps (Hida Mountains) can be experienced up close and the city of Hakuba sprawls out down below. In early spring you can see the shape of the Takeda family crest on the mountain side from the observatory on the roof of the gondola summit station. Even people who don’t ski or snowboard come here to relax enjoy a meal and take in the stunning scenery.
  • Kumanoyu Ski Area

    The slopes at this ski area range in elevation between 1,700 and 1,960 meters and provide a variety of fun for everyone from beginner to advanced level skiers. Its season is quite long, extending from late November to May. Located on the northern slope that faces the Northern Japan Alps, it doesn’t receive any direct sunlight and always has superb powder snow. Early morning and night skiing are available, so you can avoid the crowds on the lift during the day. The No. 3 Quad Lift connects to the Yokoteyama Ski Resort at the top.
  • Kurumayama-kogen SKYPARK Ski Resort

    Because of the high altitude of this ski resort the quality of the snow is good and the slopes are always kept in prime condition. The weather is almost always good and from the top of the mountain and slopes views can be had of the Shinshu mountains. Slopes are designed so that both beginners and advanced skiers can enjoy themselves to the max. When spring comes the Natsuyama Observatory Lift starts running. You can enjoy all the wild plants and trekking on the highland plateau. The sunrise unkai (sea of clouds) lift from where you can see a sea of cloud from the summit at 1925 meters is also very popular.
  • X-JAM Takai Fuji

    This ski resort is at 1,351 meters on the eastern slope of Mt. Kosha. It has 13 courses, 90% of which are for beginners and intermediate level skiers. The resort features the largest snow park in Japan with 47 items including a kicker and a half pipe. They offer the Kita Shiga Four Mountain Pass which covers Ryuoo Ski Park, Komaruyama Ski Area, Yomase Onsen Ski Resort, and X-JAM Takai Fuji.
  • Kisofukushima Ski Resort

    This ski resort’s 4,600-meter-long downhill slope descends from the 1,904-meter summit. The resort is dedicated to skiing, and snowboarding is completely prohibited. Its beginner course is 2,500 meters, and families, beginners, and juniors all love it. The Winky Park kids area has a kids room and a room for nursing moms. It’s Day-Care Room Winky has DVDs and toys, making this a popular ski resort for families with children. The day-care operates Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays only.
  • Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Area

    Going by the nickname of “Hakunori,” this ski resort boasts top-class powder. Their Hakunori Family Course’s average slope is a gentle five degrees and is great for beginners. They have a variety of other courses too. Their Wakaguri Rinkan Course has a slope bordered by conifer trees, and their Satomione Course offers a great view. There is a natural hot spring right at the resort. Stop by to enjoy the excellent medicinal qualities of its hydrogen carbonate spring.
  • Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field

    Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field has an amazing panoramic view from its majestic summit area of the Northern Japan Alps and the Hakuba Basin. Its 26 courses make skillful use of the natural terrain, and in addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding, you can enjoy winters sports like cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Iwatake’s western flank faces the three peaks of the Northern Japan Alps known as the Shirouma Sanzan, and its four “view courses” can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to advanced level students.
