    Aizu Kogen Daikura Ski Resort is a municipal ski resort run by Minami-Aizu township. There are a total of 11 slopes to suit all abilities from beginners to experts. The Daichan Park located near the lodge has a range of children’s play equipment including roller slides etc.; on weekends the resort’s mascot “Dai-chan” makes an appearance here. At the restaurant visitors can enjoy famous local Aizu specialties such as “Sauce Katsudon” (a bowl of rice topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet served with Worcestershire sauce) and Shoyu Ramen (ramen noodles served in a broth flavored with soy sauce).

    Hotel & Snow Resort Minowa is a ski resort located on the western slopes of Mt. Minowa centered round the Hotel de Premiere Minowa. The resort is situated directly above a tunnel through which National Route 115 passes and is very convenient to get to. Mt. Minowa is 1500 meters high so the resort is higher up than other nearby ski resorts; skiers on the beginners’ slope have the option of skiing right down as far as the rest-house and even beginners can enjoy superb views while skiing. There is a family slope and a sledging slope with net protection so this is a great place to bring the kids to enjoy the winter mountains as a family.
  • Izumigatake Ski Resort

    This ski resort is located on the southeastern slope of Mt. Izumigatake in Sendai City. You can reach it from the city center within an hour, and it has a view of the whole city. They have gentle beginner courses as well as an advanced short turn course that starts near the summit, and they offer discounted weekday tickets for women and a student discount. Their open winter season is from the end of December until March. During the green season it’s packed with visitors who come for water jumping and paragliding.
  • Miyagi Zao Shiroishi Ski Resort

    Located about 17 kilometers from the Shiroishi Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway, this resort mainly caters to families. It has seven courses, one quad lift, and three pair lifts. At the center house you’ll find the lift ticket and equipment rental counters, a restaurant, a shop, and the resort’s school. In front of the center there is a kids park which has a playscape with an air dome. It’s a popular ski spot where children can sled or play in the snow while parents keep an eye on them.
  • Shizukuishi Ski Resort

    This ski area is located in Shizukuishi-cho, Iwate County. Characterized by its rugged terrain, there are a variety of courses that can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. You can also rent equipment necessary to go skiing and snowboarding. In the off-season from April to October, you can enjoy views of the night sky from the Shizukuishi Ginga Ropeway.

    Panorama Ski Area and Shimokura Ski Area are located in Hachimantai Resort in the city of Hachimantai, Iwate Prefecture. The two ski areas are adjacent to each other, and they have a total of 14 runs, with slopes suitable for each level of ability, from beginners to top-level experts, and there are seven lifts. Children's activities are also available, including a Snow Park and snowshoe trekking. These activities are one reason that the ski areas are a popular destination for families.

Forest Road descends Koshiba Peak; it’s a popular beginner and intermediate level course with a panoramic view and great snow quality where you’ll encounter beech trees bound in snow. They’re open for night skiing on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during the New Year period.
