  • Kintaro Onsen
    Toyama Uozu-shi Tenjinnoshin 6000
    A hot spring district located in Uozu, a city famous for its mirages. The district's hot spring was dug from 1,000 meters below the surface in 1965. This sulfur-containing sodium-calcium-chloride spring generates an abundant flow. The area became famous after the Tokyo Olympic Village headquarters were moved to the site. The district was given its name by Shichihei Ishiguro, founder of the district's only hot spring hotel (also called Kintarou Onsen), in the hope that bathers would become as strong and brimming with health as the legendary Kintaro. The waters of the source spring are high temperature-reaching 75° C-and are said to treat burns, skin diseases, and nerve pain.

  • Gokayama Onsen
    Toyama Nanto-shi Tamukai 333-1
    Alongside Shirakawa-go, Gokayama is one of the few places in Japan where traditional thatched roof houses stand en masse, and these structures were designated a World Heritage Site in 1995. The Gokayama Onsen hot spring district encompasses an inn where novelist Ryotaro Shiba stayed as well as the Iwase-ke, a huge thatched roof home open to tourists. The waters of the area's sulfate springs are said to treat ailments such as nerve pain and muscle soreness, in addition to preventing post-bath chills. Area destinations such as the Gokayama Folk Museum, Lake Katsura, and the thatched roof homes of the villages of Suganuma and Ainokura provide more than enough things to see and do, but visitors can also enjoy hot spring bathing together with seasonal picturesque scenery, too. Gokayama visitors can also find short classes where they can try handmade Japanese washi paper making, pottery painting, harie paper patch painting, and Gokayama tofu making.

  • Amahara Onsen
    Toyama Takaoka-shi Ota 88-1
    A hot spring located on the grounds of the Isohanabi hotel; from the hotel's outdoor bath, bathers can enjoy a stunning panoramic view stretching from the Noto Peninsula to the Himi coast, Toyama Bay, and the Mountains of Tateyama. The abundant waters of the sodium-calcium chloride spring feed a recirculation filtered outdoor bath and large indoor bath. The only way for non-guests to enjoy the baths is to purchase a bath plan which includes a meal. There are many family-oriented sightseeing destinations located nearby, including the quasi-national park-designated Amaharashi coast; Yoshitsune Rock; and Takeda Family House a magnificent, 200 year old residence built by a wealthy farmer said to have been the descendant of Nobutsuna, younger brother to the mighty Takeda Shingen; all within a five minute drive. Visitors can also partake in Japanese glass shrimp, abalone, red snow crab, and all the seasonal fruits of the sea off Toyama.

  • Sakuragaike Onsen
    Toyama Nanto-shi
    A hinterland spa and auberge and the closest inn to the Gokayama World Heritage Site. The waters of the inn's popular hot spring, welling forth along Sakuragaike Pond, are gentle on the skin. A salt spring whose sodium concentration is virtually identical to that of the human body, its waters are said to treat an abundant variety of ailments such as nerve pain, muscle soreness, joint pain, frozen shoulders, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive diseases, and chronic women's diseases. The inn is located inside Sakuragaike Kurgarden, which offers among other things hot spring massages, and also adjoins the Johana Service Area in Nanto City, making it possible to enjoy hot spring bathing without getting off the expressway. The inn offers a variety of delightful plans, too, such as a tour of the thatched roof homes of Shirakawa-go by a local guide; and a plan which includes a delicious meal made with fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, local pork, and Noto beef.

  • Unazuki Onsen

    Toyama Kurobe-shi Unazuki Onsen
    The springs of this hot spring area were first tapped in 1923 and its hot spring hall was built in 1964. The waters of the area’s colorless, alkaline simple springs are known for being gentle on and beautifying the skin. Visitors can find hotels and ryokan inns in the town area as well as a public bathhouse with a footbath, hot spring water fountain, and tourist information center, and many people stop by here while visiting Kurobe Gorge. Visitors to this popular hot spring destination can also enjoy food made with fresh, seasonal ingredients and the bounties of Toyama Bay. Although the area’s trolley train stops operating at the end of November, a variety of winter events are held here, including a Snow Carnival and a fireworks display over the snow.
