This is Japan’s only subtropical Karst topographical landform, created 200 million years ago by the corrosion of limestone by rain and other natural forces. It has been considered a holy site since ancient times, and four courses are available that introduce visitors to unusually shaped rocks, large rock formations, subtropical forest, and other natural scenery. There is also a barrier-free course for the elderly and children. Come enjoy the wondrous paradise formed by Nature’s own hand.

Daisekirinzan is definitely worth a visit, especially if visiting Cape Hedo. Our phone guided us directly to the parking lot no issues and there was a huge parking spot. There is an entrance fee...

Roadside Station Ogimi is a roadside rest area on National Highway 58, located in Nerome, Ogimi Village. There is a range of Ogimi Village specialty products on sale, including Shekwasha (flat lemons) and Akatsuchi Daikon (Japanese radish), etc., when in season. There are restaurants on the First and Second Floors, including the Beautiful View Soba noodles restaurant on the Second Floor, where diners can enjoy not only Okinawan Soba noodles but also Japanese-style Soba noodles made using buckwheat flour from buckwheat grown locally in Ogimi. Immediately adjacent to Roadside Station Ogimi is the “Longevity Stele,” a stone monument celebrating the fact that Ogimi has the longest-lived inhabitants of any community in Japan.

We dropped by the rest area after a day at Cape Hedo and Daisekirinzan, hoping for a good lunch. Unfortunately, it being past 2pm, the cafe had run out of Okinawan soba and only had curry to offer...

The lunchtime pasta features multicolored noodles with shekwasha (flat lemon), vegetables, and dragon fruit. The “Emi Andagi” dish, available for takeout, is popular as well. With the exception of lunches left up to the chef and light meals, reservations must be made a day in advance.
