Toriyoshi is located in Nakijin Village along a street accessed when entering the southern part of Prefectural Road 72 from the Motobu Loop Route. This charcoal-grilled meat restaurant has not only chicken, as the name (tori) implies, but is also known for its “Nakijin Agu black pork.” The quality of the meat and the deliciousness of the fat are its main features, and its limited quantities have earned it the moniker “phantom black pork.” It goes well with awamori (millet brandy).

Located in Motobu, Kunigami District near a municipal market, Kishimoto Shokudo is a famous, long-established Okinawan Soba noodles restaurant, which was founded in 1905. Kishimoto Shokudo’s second branch, the Yaedake Branch, is located to the east of the main branch on Prefectural Highway 84 near the entrance to Yae-dake (Mt. Yae). Using the same recipes as the main branch, the Yaedake Branch serves Okinawan Soba noodles with full-bodied noodles prepared using charcoal, and a simple broth, as well as Jushi (Okinawan rice porridge). As at the Main Branch, the entire menu basically consists of variations on these two items (diners can choose what size Soba noodles they want).

Kise no Chinbora is an Izakaya (bar-restaurant) located on the First Floor of the Kanehide Kise Beach Palace hotel, which is situated facing Nago Bay just off National Highway 58 in Kise, Nago City. The “Chinbora” in the name is an Okinawan word meaning “small spiral shell.” Kise no Chinbora serves a variety of Okinawan dishes, many of them making use of fresh seafood caught in Nago Bay, which is directly in front of the hotel. Ie Village Mt. Gusuku is a 172 meter-high hill on Ie-jima (Ie Island). The hill has a unique shape; when viewed from the ocean, it was said to resemble an Eboshi (a cap used by men in Heian period), and since ancient times it was used as a landmark for navigation at sea. It is known colloquially as “Gusuku” or “Gusuku-yama.” From the summit, there are superb views of the entire island, and of the East China Sea.

あまり期待はしていませんでしたがケーキも飲み物も美味しかったです。野菜やピクルスなどが店内で販売されています。コーヒーも私好みの酸味を抑えた味でした。

どんどんラーメンに寄ってきた沖縄そば屋が増えてきた沖縄。一方でタコそば・海ぶどうそば…等、沖縄ちゃんぷるーも見かける。そんな中、ここはヒージャー(山羊)そば。写真を添付おきます。山羊汁と本部っぽい伝統的なアルデンテ麺。山羊専門店はちょっと行きにくいし、沖縄料理屋さんは当たり外れが… という方には良いかもしれない。カップ山羊汁が食べられる方は大丈夫。

The café occupies a refurbished traditional house (built over 50 years ago), with attractive antique furniture. Dishes that make extensive use of Okinawa-grown vegetables are served on Yachimun ceramic tableware. Despite its location in the middle of a wood, Cafe Haconiwa is very popular.

The donuts sold here are made mainly from local ingredients, including bean curd (a by-product produced during the manufacturing of Okinawan-style tofu), soybean milk, brown sugar, etc., and the donuts are baked rather than fried. Smile spoon is a restaurant with western style dishes located in Izumi, Motobu Town. It is in the forest, a little way off Prefectural Highway No. 84. It opens for lunch until 5 p.m. and offers two types of full course meals daily which change weekly. There is a parents’ room with a baby bed in the shop so it is convenient for people with small children. It also sells handmade goods.
