This longstanding tofu restaurant is located a 40-minute drive from Amami Airport. Looking as if it still exists in Japan's bygone Showa period, the popular establishment has a friendly atmosphere and bustles not only with locals but also many tourists. The shima tofu the restaurant uses is a variety of firm tofu made with Amami seawater bittern containing an abundance of minerals. One of the most popular choices on the menu is the Shimatofu-ya Teishoku set meal, which comes with tofu skin tempura; shiro-ae tofu, white sesame, and white miso salad; and sumashijiru clear soup.

"This brewery is located a ten-minute bus ride from Amami Oshima Airport, and a four-minute walk from the Aijuen-mae bus stop. It manufactures and sells brown sugar shochu, which is permitted to be made only on the Amami Islands. Jogo, a shochu made from brown sugar using Amami Oshima's sugarcane and Tatsugo Town's famous water ""Jogo no Tensensui,"" is characterized by its mild and refreshing taste. It has been awarded with the Monde Selection. In addition, there is a shochu tasting corner, and factory tours are held three times a day."

White sand beaches and an emerald-green ocean with gradations that gradually change to a cobalt blue are what make Tomori Beach so special. It is also called Blue Angel because of the beauty of the clear blue waters. As it is on the way to the cape from the airport, look for the sign at the entrance to Tomori Beach. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the shallow waters that surround the rocks, but sufficient caution is required as rip currents can take swimmers out to sea.

With a total length of 3,500 meters, this large limestone cave formed by underground water dissolving coral limestone was discovered in 1963. The view of countless silvery-white stalactites dangling from the ceiling is extraordinary, and the cave has a mysterious beauty that is said to be the best in the East. Approximately 600 meters is open to the public, and visitors can see stalactites and stalagmites with names such as Christmas Tree, Diamond Palace, and Crab Walk.

This is the 34th national park located in the southern region of Kagoshima Prefecture with a theme of “the sub-tropical island full of life.” The largest national sub-tropical evergreen forest is situated in the Amami Gunto (Amami Islands) with high temperatures and humidity and is home to a variety of wildlife such as the Amami rabbit (Pentalagus furnessi). A restaurant which serves Keihan, a local Amami dish, located a one-minute walk from the “Yanyu Hisakura-mae” bus stop. Keihan consists of chicken, omelet strips, shiitake mushrooms, papaya pickles, and tankan citrus fruit rind served over piping hot rice and covered with a chicken bone broth. This dish, “fit for a feudal lord,” was originally created to serve to government officials from Satsuma. The restaurant raises its own chickens on its own farm, as well as its own eggs, papaya, and other ingredients. Customers can enjoy the rich flavor of chicken and broth covered rice.

This coast is located at the southern end of Amami Oshima Island. Naturally formed round stones cover the entire coast, and visitors can appreciate the sight and sound of the stones exposed to the ocean waves. It is famous as a power spot, and it is said that disaster will befall anyone who take the stones away, so it is forbidden to remove them. There is also a parking lot with toilets nearby, as many tourists visit this location.

This wooden residence is where Saigo Takamori lived for around three years when he was ordered to stay in Amami Oshima Island. It is now a private property managed by the son of his wife, Aigana, and is open to the public as a paid-entry museum. The residence has valuable items such as Saigo Takamori's personal history and private writings, and a stone monument to his wife, Aigana, on display. There is also another monument with the lettering from Katsu inscribed on it.

加計呂麻島の表玄関、瀬相港にたつ市場。土産物だけでなく、村人相手の野菜なども売っている。サーターアンダギーもあったが、たぶん島のおばぁが手作りで出品しているものではなかろうか（裏の商品説明の紙には個人名もあった）。また島みかんは温州ミカンのようだが種がいっぱい入っていたのがかえって新鮮。多くのものが島で作られたもののよう。パパイヤの漬物、にんにくのつけものなども購入。
