    薩摩川内市の名物？きびなごラーメンのお店。九州なのでトンコツベースにきびなごをペーストしたものを入れています。強烈な印象はないが、魚感は出ています。好き嫌いははっきり分かれるものかと思います。

    "This fish market diner is operated by the Kitasatsuma Fishery Cooperative. It offers sushi, donburi rice bowls, set meals, and more made with fresh seafood sourced from the port each morning by the head chef. They are especially proud of their nizakana, a tasty dish made by simmering fresh fish that can be enjoyed by those who do not enjoy raw fish. Each and every fish is deftly filleted before being cooked in a manner that, while time consuming, brings out the inherent flavor of the ingredients to the maximum. ""Buen,"" which literally means ""no salt,"" means ""fresh fish"" in the dialect of Kagoshima. This comes from the fact that salting was once the primary means of preserving fish. The restaurant was named ""Buenkan"" in order to convey that ""the fish served here is so fresh that it needs not be salted."""

Operated by a poultry farm, the shop sells richly-flavored sweets made with freshly-laid eggs. Their most popular product is their Uffu Choux. Each one of these cream puffs is stuffed with fresh whipped cream to order, allowing them to always be enjoyed at their crispiest best. Other popular products include gelatos and puddings made with Jersey milk as well as roll cakes. The shop even offers seasonal flavors of roll cake such as strawberry and cherry blossom. The shop offers so many delicious varieties that you will never grow tired of its sweets.

    This bakery located across the Komenotsu River from Izumi Comprehensive Athletic Park is especially proud of its bread loaves. They allow the dough to rise all night long after inoculating it with natural yeast discovered in the Shirakami-Sanchi World Heritage Site. The owner, a specialist who has won many awards at food competitions, changes the blend of the flour every day based on its quality. This obsessive attention to detail is one of the biggest appeals of the bakery, which always has about 90 items in stock. Its popular offerings include staples such as croissants and melonpan (sweet melon-shaped buns) as well as its original pain de champagne made with Kagoshima sweet potatoes and sweets such as fromage cheesecakes.

    長島から天草へ渡る予定だったので、せっかくだから長島で何か食べたいと思い、フェリー乗り場を通り越してまで行きました。が、値段の割にボリュームは少なめで残念な感じがしました。これまで、漁港の食堂には何軒か行ったことありますが、そのイメージを持ってはるばる行くとちょっと期待外れでした。

Over 100 active volcanoes across Kagoshima make it one of the Japan's most exciting prefectures.
