Miyazaki Pref. Kushimashi Ono Toi Cape 80-2
This is a lighthouse which was constructed in 1929 and lies at the southernmost tip of Miyazaki Prefecture, which leaves a strong impression amid the blue sea with its white chalk walls. There are splendid views to be had from atop the 255-meter-high cliff, and tours inside are also available.

    Miyazaki Nichinan-shi Sonoda 3-3-31
This wooden bridge is located behind the Nichinan City Tourist Information building. Made of Obi stone and 120-year-old Obi cedar, the bridge was built utilizing traditional construction methods and wood joinery, and uses no nails, screws, or other metal connecting pieces whatsoever. The gently curving roof struts were created using a technique called bent wood which utilizes the distinctive flexibility and resilience of Obi cedar. The bridge was made using the Gerber system of bridge construction, which involved sticking out beams from both banks, placing weight stones on them to stabilize them, and linking them with additional beams in the center. The area around the bridge has been paved with red brick, while wooden decks have been built on the dikes of the Horikawa Canal, and the spot is a place for local residents to rest and relax.

An unmissable highlight of Kyushu, Miyazaki prefecture satisfies nature lovers with its dramatic gorges cut out of rugged cliffs, leading into waterfalls and beaches of green-blue water popular among surfers. Takachiho Gorge in the north of the prefecture tells a tale of centuries-old Japanese mythology in a fantastic setting, allowing visitors to explore the waters by boat before heading up to the cave at the Awano Iwato Shrine, where the sun goddess was said to have hidden, plunging the world into darkness.
