Visitors can go blueberry picking or take a tethered horseback ride, and the adjoining large restaurant serves set meals and yakiniku Japanese barbecue featuring Bungo beef and local chicken.

Komatsu Jigoku evokes visions of “jigoku” or “hell” due to the area’s natural steam vents, bubbling mud, and rocks died red from hot spring minerals, and visitors can use walking paths to stroll through the area and take in its distinctive scenic beauty. Visitors can also use a basket to soak raw eggs in the water of hot spring and make “hot spring eggs,” custard like soft boiled eggs.

    "A gorge on the Yufu River straddling Beppu City and Yufu City. It is also known as ""Yufu River Gorge."" The 12- kilometer-long gorge is known for the beauty of its moss covered rock and numerous waterfalls. A cave-in caused by torrential rains and typhoon winds occurred in 2017, and at the present time passage through the gorge is not possible, but visitors can walk around a suspension bridge spanning the gorge."

Even today, many people come here to collect water. The springs have also been selected for inclusion in a list of Japan's 100 most famous springs.

    A Western confectionary shop adjoining the Ryokan Yufusan inn situated along Prefectural Route 11 in Kawakami, Yufuin-cho, Yufu City. The shop’s deliciously creamy and smooth signature half-baked cheesecake is made with Australian cheese and fresh eggs. The shop sells other Western style confections, as well, like roll cakes.

    湯布院土産に頂きました。 「甘太さくっとリッチサブレ」は見た目もさつま芋の輪切りっぽくしてあって可愛らしいサブレです。

    Located a 15-minute walk from JR Yufuin Station close to the entrance of Yasuragi Yu no Tsubo Yokocho alley, this confectionary shop offers a variety of famed Oita sweets perfect for buying as souvenirs. Confectionery Hana Koji Kikuya’s own “yufuin sosaku-gashi” is particularly well renowned, and the shop’s pudding dorayaki—pudding sandwiched between two soft dorayaki cakes—is so popular, it has even been featured on television. Hana Koji Kikuya’s selections also make popular snacks for eating on the go. “The Mitsuemon, “sold only when sweet potatoes are in season in fall and winter, has fans nationwide.

    A souvenir shop operated by the Kamenoi Besso high class inn in Yufuin, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture which sells signature foods and locally-made crafts. The shop’s jams, lovingly made with seasonal fruit primarily from Oita Prefecture, are popular for how the flavor and fragrances of the ingredients come through in the finished product. The winter only “yuzu-neri” jam is so popular it disappears from the shelves very fast but makes an excellent gift if you can get your hands on it. The interior of the shop, located inside a late Edo period merchant’s house, is charming and subdued.
