The market sells fresh vegetables, Japanese pickles, dried foods, milk, yogurt, and much more. Their sweet and aromatic bread is made with 100% Hokkaido flour and locally sourced milk from jersey cows. They have an eating area, so lots of people get a coffee to go with their purchase.

They sell several varieties, including country style inaka tofu, zaru tofu served in a basket, and fried tofu. You can also eat freshly made tofu right there as part a meal set. They make soy milk too, and sell prepared products made with it like karinto fried dough and yokan bean gelatin that make great gifts.

    A Japan Agricultural Cooperatives famers market located in Oguni, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture easily identifiable by its namesake pyramid-shaped building. The market sells all manner of Aso products, including fresh vegetables delivery daily by local farmers, Kumamoto pork ham and sausages, and dairy products made with Oguni Jersey milk. There is also a restaurant where diners can enjoy dishes made with delicious local ingredients; the Oguni beef diced steak and yakiniku (barbecue) special are particularly popular. The rich soft-serve ice cream makes a great dessert or treat.

    鍋ヶ滝から坂本善三美術館を回って黒川温泉方向へ車を走らせていて左側に目が入ったので昼食で立ち寄りました。坂道を上がると店の前に駐車場があります。入り口近くは土産物売り場で奥が食事場所になっていました。店内はそこそこの混雑程度でした。食事の場所が多くない地域なので仕方ないかもしれません。あかうしのカレーにしました。味は悪くないかなというものでした。

Housed inside an old private home facing Kawabata-dori Avenue in Kurokawa Onsen, the shop’s chou à la crème, topped with a shiokoji (salt-marinated rice malt) cookie, are filled with custard only after a customer orders them. The shop’s plain and matcha roll cakes, made with local Kumamoto and Aso ingredients, are also popular.

It is approximately 16 minutes’ walk from the Minamiaso Railway Takamori Line’s Choyo Station, along the National Route 325.

In business for over a century, the liquor store has watched over the changes the hot spring district has experienced in this time. The store sells Kurokawa shochus, local beers, and delicious sakes crafted from the natural abundances of Minamioguni. In addition, the store sells an original junmai ginjo sake planned by the store and produced by Kawazu Shuzo, a local sake brewery; this sake is aromatic and has a nice finish. Another product the store sells, a local beer called Yuagari Bijin which has a fruity aroma and which is particularly recommended to enjoy after a hot spring bath, is also highly regarded. In addition to alcoholic beverages, the store also sells souvenirs and daily necessities.

Many of the store's choice beverages can be found no place else, such as Isshokenmei, a rice shochu; and Hotarumaru Cider, developed as part of a project to restore Aso Shrine. Operating out of a remodeled building originally used as a kura storehouse, inside the earthen floor humidifies the establishment, and a coolness hangs in the air even in summer. The store has a distinctive exterior facade but its entrance is low and narrow, so be sure to take care not to bump your head when leaving.

The shop makes its pickles using only seasonal vegetables grown amidst the natural abundance of the local Kurokawa area. From crisp lightly pickled vegetables to well-pickled vegetables, all of the shop's products have a smooth, elegant flavor which maximizes the innate deliciousness of the vegetables used. The shop takes great pride in the spiciness of its popular Genki Daikon pickles; customers rave that once you start eating them, you can't stop. The upper part near the stem is ever-so-slightly sweet, while the bottom part near the root bears the unique spiciness of daikon radish, enabling you to enjoy the differing flavors.

    This dorayaki pancake sandwich shop is situated along the narrow Igozaka hill road in Kurokawa Onsen. The shop sells a variety of charming Japanese-style confections with a focus on the Doradora Burger, a dorayaki pancake sandwich consisting of two handmade pancake buns stuffed with sweet red bean paste and a cream-filled daifuku rice cake. In total, the Doradora Burger is sold with five varieties of fillings - Aso Oguni Jersey cow milk cream, matcha green tea cream, custard cream, cafe au lait cream, and dekopon citrus fruit cream. The moist, tender pancake buns produce an exquisite harmony with the homemade fillings, blossoming in the mouth with a sweetness which is just right. A particularly popular product in Kurokawa Onsen, the pancake sandwiches are carefully cooked and wrapped one at a time, and oftentimes when you come late in the day the shop has already sold out. In addition to being a tasty treat to enjoy after a hot spring bath, they also make delightful souvenirs.

    The rich red bean paste sandwiched with the dorayaki pancake mixed well with the chewy cream in the middle (tried the matcha green tea flavour, which is real good).

Encased in a truly Japanese atmosphere, the shop is filled with a wide variety of rice cracker products, such as rice crackers made with Ariake nori seaweed from Kyushu, rice crackers made with yuzu citrus pepper from Kyushu, and an exclusive Kurokawa Onsen snack assortment you can only buy in Kyushu. In addition to products designed to be taken home or given as souvenirs, the shop also sells snacks you can enjoy while walking around the area, and customers are even free to buy just a single rice cracker. The shop also sells match green tea soft-serve ice cream and soy sauce ice cream, and many tourists stop by here after enjoying the area's hot spring bathing.

    This confectionery shop, located on Aso Shrine's Monzenmachi Street, produces and sells sweets with a rich yet refreshing aftertaste using local ingredients and spring water. It is best enjoyed with a cup of coffee brewed from the shop's signature spring water, Kakaikoi Sui.

    The owner recommended the pear dessert:an entire piece of pear inside! Everyone loved the cream puffs. Soft and not too sweet. Winner coffee (coffee with a slab of cream) was really good! Not very...
