Nishinohara, the former site of the Fukko Pottery Works, was taken over by Saikai Toki in 2001, and the project began as a place to create new value on the 6611 sq. km site. The buildings and garden, which date back to the early Showa period, have been renovated, and the main building, work shop, and painting shop were registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2021.

"Built in 1918, the Omura Bay War Remnants was the site where torpedo firing tests and final inspections were conducted until the end of the war. As the war situation became severe, mobilized students and female volunteer workers were assigned to the work. After the war, the roof of the ""air compression pump room"" was removed, and now the contrast between the ruins and greenery creates a beautiful landscape. In recent years, it has been used as a filming location for movies, animation, and cosplayers."

Nagasaki Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
