This Chinese restaurant is famous for inventing Nagasaki champon as well as sara udon, two distinct dishes involving noodles with various toppings. The restaurant’s signature creamy and flavorful soup broth is made by boiling two to three whole chickens as well as pork and chicken bones for three to four hours. The restaurant’s building is five stories tall. The fifth floor is the actual restaurant, offering customers a superb view. The second floor is a museum which presents the history of champon. This tourism facility also has a large observatory commanding a view of Tachibana Bay, which has even been selected for inclusion in the Japanese 100 Best Scenery list. The facility sells Nagasaki's famous castella cakes and other souvenirs, as well as a wide range of other items, up to and including crafts from across the Kyushu region. There's also a stand which sells the facility's own original and signature Jaga-chan deep-fried potato balls. Meanwhile, a large cafeteria occupying the first and second floors serves a large selection of local dishes such as Nagasaki chanpon and sara udon noodles. This cafeteria has a lot of seating and, with a reservation made at least one day in advance, can even accommodate large tour groups. In the summer, the facility holds a special summer festival as well as nagashi-somen noodle slide events.

Famous as a meeting place for rebels and writers during the Edo and Meiji periods, the banquet hall on the second floor still bears a slash from the sword of Sakamoto Ryoma. The establishment serves a variety of Turkish rice varieties, including the ""Nagasaki Meibutsu Turkish Rice,"" pilaf piled high with spaghetti and tonkatsu breaded pork cutlet; hamburg steak Turkish rice; Nagasaki wagyu Japanese beef steak Turkish rice; and the huge ""Mega Turkish Rice."" Had a quick meal here with my friend while we were in the area. The friendly owner speaks some English so communicating was a cinch. The food was not bad and it was reasonably priced.
