    Yobuko cho Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture
    One of Japan’s three largest morning markets, Yobuko operates 364 days a year (only closing on New Year’s Day). Open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., on weekdays some 40 stands operate and 60 on weekends and holidays. The market is particularly famous for its squid ikizukuri sashimi, made with a variety of squid throughout the year. In addition to the squid, visitors are encouraged to try the mackerel ikizukuri, which is fast becoming a new specialty for the market. Take the Showa Bus bound for Yobuko at Oteguchi Bus Center in front of JR Karatsu Station and get off at the Yobuko stop; the market is just a three-minute walk from there. 30 minutes by car.

    We arrived at this morning market around 11:00 and it was in the stages of closing. Had a great time wandering among the stalls. You can try sea urchins, and other tasty sea food. I had sweet honey...

    A local specialty products hall located close to Karatsu Station in Shinko-machi, Karatsu City. Here visitors can purchase famous Karatsu sweets like Shoro Manju buns; nori seaweed and other marine products from the Ariake Sea; Karatsu tea; processed agricultural products like yuzu pepper made with Kyuragi's specialty yuzu fruit; and other local specialty products and crafts. On the second floor, visitors will find a Karatsu ware display space and shop which also has a corner where you can try painting your own Karatsu ware piece.

    １階は物産、２階は唐津焼を販売していました。 唐津焼は少々品ぞろえが少ないと感じましたが、物産は面白かったです。 駐車場は有料ですが、買い物でサービスチケットをもらえます。

    A market situated along National Route 382 in Yobuko, Yobuko-cho, Karatsu City. In the Tairyou Senka farmers market, visitors can buy fresh seafood, meats, produce, and local specialty products. Visitors can grill and eat the seafood they bought in a provided barbecue corner which also offers a buffet of sushi made with fresh seafood plus tempura made with fresh squid caught that very day. Additional facilities include the Yobuko Daiba no Yu bathhouse where visitors can enjoy a bath along with a sweeping view of Yobuko Bay, and a marine food processing plant.

    呼子の港で朝市があった！朝からたくさんの人がいるが、せっかく呼びまで来たのだから港から下ろしたてのイカを食べられて満足！

    A wholesaler for JF Saga Genkai Fisherman’s Association in “Yobuko Daiba Minato Plaza”, they have a full selection of fresh squid, sea urchin, turban shell, abalone, mackerel, sea bream and other seafood, as well as packed meat, fruits, and regional goods. There is a restaurant, a barbeque corner for cooking the seafood just purchased at the wholesaler, and an adjacent bathing facility Yobuko Daiba no Yu where you get a full view of Yobuko Ohashi Bridge and Yobuko Bay.

    A specialty product of Yobuko, Kyushu, which has won a prize in an environmentally friendly agriculture promotion contest, amanatsu jelly is made from healthy amanatsu (sweet summer orange) harvested from the best soil with the power to purify bacteria by using fermented organic fertilizers and useful microbial group enzymes. It is also popular as an ordered sweet.

    こじんまりとしたお店で、試食の甘夏ゼリーなど丁寧にお皿に入れて出してくださり嬉しかったです。 味は、さっぱりしていて甘夏の素材を活かした味で、どこか懐かしい優しい味でまた食べたいと思わされる味でした。 店員さんも優しい雰囲気で良かったです！

    A historic Japanese sweet shop founded in 1850. Round Shoro Manju buns are Karatsu's signature sweet. Carefully baked one by one on copper plates, you'll love the hand-made flavor that has not changed since the shop's founding. We also recommend their Matsura with a mixture of white azuki and tebo beans, as well as their Shoroji; it's made by blending white azuki beans with carefully selected koshian bean paste and letting the mixture solidify in a mold.

    旧唐津銀行のすぐ近くにあります。松露饅頭も売っていますが、洋風のチーズケーキやプリンもありました。店内に座るスペースがあるのでそこで食べました。お茶は出ないので持参のペットボトルのお茶。

    お土産屋かテイクアウトのお店ばかり、日中は座って電車を待てるようなお店は有りません。シャッターが閉まっているエリアも有ります。寂しい感じですね。

    とにかくお土産が何でもある。店の名前の通り、鮮魚が充実しています。トイレもあるし、広いし、何でも買えるので、大量買いにおすすめの休憩所です。

    唐津市街から呼子への途中に’あります。以前から道すがらあるのは知っていましたが、中にはいったのは初めてです。物産販売がメインで、野菜や果物は豊富です。海鮮ものもあり唐津らしくくじら肉がありました。呼子に車で行った帰りに立ち寄れそうです。 野菜を買っているのが地元の人が多いような様子でした。駐車場は隣のコンビニとの境界がないような状態でした。
