This Fukuoka City market with a long history started in 1918, when a few fresh fish traders began selling fish from a cart at the Yagihashi Bridge crossing the Nakagawa River. It is a lively place with events throughout the year, including the “Zenzai Festival” held every January and the “set bargain sale” held on the third Thursday of each month where all stores offer goods and fresh foodstuffs at prices at half or 1/3 of their regular price.

Walking distance from Tenjin underground, this local small fish market sell a varieties of fresh fish, shell fish, crabs and even whale meat and of course the must eat mentaiko

    Fukuoka Fukuoka-shi Chuo-ku
