- Fukuoka prefecture Chikushino city, Dazaifu city, Umi cho
- "Mt. Homan can be reached on foot from Dazaifu Station on the Nishitetsu Railroad, or alternatively visitors can take the ""Mahoroba"" community bus service from Dazaifu Station and get off at the last stop, Uchiyama (Kamado-jinja-mae). Mt. Homan, which forms the backdrop to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, is an 829.6 meter-high sacred mountain that has been an object of veneration since ancient times, attracting practitioners of Shugendo (mountain asceticism). It forms part of Sangun Mountains that run north to south through Fukuoka Prefecture, and in the past was known as ""Mt. Mikasa""; another name for the mountain was ""Mt. Kamado."" There is a popular hiking trail that starts from Kamado Shrine, which follows the path that Shugendo practitioners used to take; the path takes visitors past many historic sites-such as Hyakudan-gangi steps-some of which date back many centuries while others are more recent."
