"This road has a view of Mt. Ishizuchi, western Japan's highest peak and one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. The road's name derives from the similarity of pronunciation between ""Yuho"", the original Japanese name and ""UFO."" It's a very popular driving route, and it has also appeared in Toyota commercials. The road runs about 27 kilometers through Kamegamori at an elevation ranging from 1,300 to 1,700 meters. Its superb scenery includes Akebono rhododendrons blooming in May, mountain hydrangea in July, and a geranium species called Shikokufuro in August. If your timing's right, September will let you see both colorful foliage and the landscape covered in frost. The road is closed from the end of November to the beginning of April."

An observatory located in Baseyama Park at the base of the Nishiumi Peninsula. The observation deck both revolves and goes up and down, rising and falling between 107 meters and 260 meters above sea level while slowly rotating. During the ride, visitors can get a sweeping view of Misho Bay and the ria coast of the Uwa Sea. In springtime, visitors can also enjoy the pink cherry blossoms in full bloom in the park right under the observatory. The observatory is two stories and its cabin is also worth checking out. This type of observatory is extremely rare and unusual - there are only two in all of Japan, the other being in Niigata Prefecture.
