This artificial lake was made in 1964 by damming Dondoro-fuchi on the Aya River. It's been named one of the Top 100 New Sanuki Views. The Takamatsu Expressway's cable-stayed bridge is near the center of the lake, and there's an arch bridge that reflects clearly on the surface of the lake on sunny days. As artificial lakes tend to have few waves, it's also a venue for canoeing events.

Today it has the only parking area on the Seto Ohashi Bridge. It has a great 360-degree view, and its shop sells Setouchi souvenirs.

Kagawa Areas

around-area-map

Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa, may take up just a small corner of Shikoku, but it has grown increasingly popular with the recognition of Naoshima, its "art island" in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu. Just a stone’s throw from the islands, mainland Kagawa’s prefectural capital, Takamatsu, holds history in its castle ruins and its pride and joy, Ritsurin Garden, is known as one of the country’s best gardens.
