Tokushima Pref. Tokushimashi Hatachou Hachiya 67-3 Goo Shrine grounds
This rural stage, designated as a national, important tangible folk cultural property in 1998, has been used for Ningyo Joruri puppet theater since the Edo period. In early November each year, public performances are held on the stage, which stands on the grounds of Goo Shrine. On the day of the event, a ritual performance of Shiki Sanbaso, which originated in a program of Noh, is first offered to the shrine to pray for an abundant crop and a peaceful world. Then, a Ningyo Joruri performance is held. Finally, members of a local preservation society perform a fusuma karakuri show featuring different tricks with painted sliding doors.
