- The lighthouse was designed in 1876 as the first large lighthouse on the Sea of Japan side, and the view from the top of the narrow spiral staircase is spectacular, almost tropical. Many tourists enjoy driving along the Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge with this lighthouse as their destination.

角島に渡ってそのまま一気に島の西の端までやってきました。そこに立っているのが角島灯台です。明治９年につくられたという角島灯台は、高さがおよそ３０ｍもあります。その高い灯台のすぐ横に、角島灯台記念館がありました。 この灯台記念館は、職員の宿舎だった施設で、館内には、角島の歴史や日本各地にある灯台が紹介されており、また、灯台長の部屋なども復元されて見学することができました。
