"The collective term for the seven bridges connecting Kure City and the islands of the Aki Sea in Hiroshima Prefecture. ""Tobishima"" is derived from ""tobi-ishi"", meaning ""stepping stones,"" due to the islands' appearance resembling the stepping stones of a garden. The official name for the bridges is the ""Aki Sea Archipelago Connecting Bridges."" All of the bridges are free to cross except for the first bridge connecting to the mainland. Each of the islands has its own charm - Shimo-kamagari Island has many historic sites; Osaki-Shimojima Island is the location of Mitarai, a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings; on Kami-kamagari Island, you can enjoy the beach and marine sports. The bridges and connecting roads are also perfect for cycling and, with few hills, are easy even for beginners to tackle."

The 737-meter-high Mt. Haigamine, is situated Northeast of Kure City center. On top of the mountain from an observatory one can take in a nightscape chosen as one of Japan's top 100 views, and also one of the top three nightscapes of the Chugoku-Shikoku region. At one time Kure flourished as a military port city. From this spot today a panoramic view of the developing industrial townscape and the beautiful inland sea can still be seen. At night, it is especially beautiful to see the city lights appearing as scattered jewels, making it one of the top three nightscapes in the Chugoku-Shikoku region. When looking at the lights, if the lights spell out 'kure', then it is said that the onlooking couple will be wed, making it also a popular date spot.
Ondo Ohashi Bridge

"This highway bridge connects Kurahashi Island to Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture on the mainland. Its red arches recall the large vermilion torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine. The roads that lead to the bridge spiral up to it, leaving room for large boats to pass beneath. In order to cope with an increase in traffic, they made the ""Second Ondo Ohashi Bridge"" about 350 meters away in 2013. This is also a red Nielsen Lohse arch bridge, but it lacks the spiraling roads. "

This Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings is located in Honmachi, Takehara City. Long ago, Takehara prospered as a manor of Kyoto's Shimogamo Shrine. It would later experience great economic growth during the Edo period with the development of the salt farm and cargo vessel industry. Visitors can truly feel the atmosphere of this ancient town from the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa-period buildings that still line its streets.

This is a town chosen as the country’s Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, located on Osakishimojima Island. It is an area that flourished as a lodging place on the Seto Inland Sea route, and many buildings built from Edo to the early Showa period remain. The cityscape still with the Edo period atmosphere is striking. There are many places to visit such as a tea house that is once said to have had 100 harlots in its prime, a modern theater from the early Showa period called “Virgo” and a stone lantern Takatouro that conveys the prosperity of the Mitarai.

A municipal park located close to Ozekiyama Station on the JR Sanko Line. An observatory on top of a small mountain in the park offers a sweeping view of Miyoshi City. The park is also a renowned destination for viewing cherry blossoms and autumn foliage and many people come to the park to enjoy its seasonal scenery.

Tatara-ohashi Bridge diagonally connects Ikuchi-jima Island in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture with Omishima Island in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The bridge is the fourth bridge along Shimanami Kaido Expressway, from Honshu and has a beautiful shape like that of a swan spreading its wings over the sea. Tatara-ohashi Bridge is notable for its additional cycling and pedestrian lanes as well as the road exclusively for cars and trucks. If you clap your hands or the wooden blocks at the bottom of the bridge support you can experience the echoing reverberations, known as nakiryu (roaring dragon), as the sound travels up the supports.
Neko no Hosomichi (Cat's Alley)

A narrow hill road some 200 meters long located close to Mt. Senkoji Ropeway Sanroku Station in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The alley is part of the setting of artist Shunji Sonoyama’s “Onomichi Ihatov” spatial project launched in 1997, and it functions as a road connecting old and dilapidated homes which have been renovated and remodeled into art museums, cafes, and restaurants. The area, surrounded by trees and other greenery and enwrapped in an old-fashioned atmosphere, is dotted with other 1,000 “Fuku-ishi-neko,” round stones painted with figures of lucky cats. For generations, large numbers of cats settle around this area, and the alley is also a popular tourism destination which attracts cat-lovers nationwide.

Hiroshima Jinseki-gun Jinsekikogen Cho Shimotoyomatsu 318

This tower, the only one of its kind in the world, was created specifically for people to launch paper airplanes from it. Situated in the center of the park at the summit of 663-meter-high Mt. Yonami, the tower stands 26-meters-tall. There is an observation deck situated 15 meters up the tower, and from here visitors can take in a 360 degree, panoramic view encompassing distant Mt. Daisen, Mt. Dogo, and the Hiba Mountains. In 2013, the tower was designated a Lover's Sanctuary, and visitors can drop a “lovecopter” from the tower, which is said to grant one true love.

An observatory with an eight-meter-tall dome in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture located on the summit of Mt. Jumonji, the second tallest mountain on Toyoshima Island in the Tobishima sea route. From the observation platform you get a panoramic view of the various islands dotting the Seto Inland Sea. On clear days you can even see the far-flung mountains of Ehime Prefecture.

A stone paved path in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture that runs almost two kilometers from Jikoji Temple, near JR Onomichi Station, eastwards to Kairyuji Temple. "This observatory is located on 490-meter-high Mt. Takatani in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The observatory also offers a sweeping view of Miyoshi City; the nightscape visible from here is also spectacular. During the sea of fog season, many tourists come here."

An observatory on holy Mt. Misen on the island of Miyajima in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture just a short distance from Miyajima Ropeway Shishiiwa Station. The view from this precipitous cliff is spectacular, and you can see Hiroshima Port, Kure Port, Itsukushima Strait, and the island of Akinada. You can also watch the ships plying the waters of the port; the contrast of the seasonal natural beauty of the area and the blue of the sea is a must-see. There is a trail leading from the station to the Reikado and Misen Observatory, giving visitors the chance to enjoy a little mountain hiking as well.

This herb garden is located near “Neko no Hosomichi” (Cat’s Lane) in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is on the site of a renovated Taisho-period building. There is more than meets the eye awaiting any Hiroshima-bound traveler. Kicking off in Hiroshima city, the Peace Memorial Park, Hiroshima Castle, and Shukkeien Garden offer a couple of days of exploring; however, the real beauty lies along the southern coast of the prefecture. There, a series of islands spreads across the Seto Inland Sea: from the mysterious sea-submerged Great Torii Gate at Miyajima Island to the first half of the islands that connect Honshu to Shikoku via six spectacular suspension bridges.
