    Hiroshima Pref. Kureshi Hondori 4-10-1
Chinraiken is a long-established restaurant built up from a lowly food stall after the war and said to be the first restaurant to serve the local Kure food, Kure-reimen (cold noodles). It’s a very popular restaurant widely frequented by tourists and local residents. During peak times there’ll often be a queue of people eagerly waiting outside. The soup together with their own special blend of sauce with the flavors of soy sauce, chili peppers, and sesame all based around a chicken broth has a perfect balance of sweetness, spiciness and sourness. The simple and rich flavor goes well with the made-to-order flat noodles and tender slices of roast pork. Try adding their original su-karashi (vinegar and mustard) seasoning, delicious! The nearest station is Kure Station.

    Hiroshima Pref. Hiroshimashinakaku Ebaminami 3-4-1
Youki is a restaurant specializing in Hiroshima-style Ramen noodles, located in Eba, Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. As Youki only serves Ramen noodles, visitors can order just by indicating the number of diners. The Ramen is superb, combining firm but relatively thin noodles served in a pork bone and soy sauce based broth with bean sprouts, spring onions and roasted pork slices. Garlic can be added if you ask the staff when you place your order.

This pork bone ramen restaurant is located approximately a six-minute walk from Hondori Station on the Hiroshima Electric Railway. You can taste Shiromaru Motoaji (original pork-bone broth served with thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, etc.), offered since its founding, and Akamaru Shinaji (original pork-bone broth with special blended spicy miso paste and fragrant garlic oil) made with original scented oil. The stylish interior has counter seating and table seating. It is visited by many guests for lunchtime and after a night drinking.

Tried this while visiting Hiroshima and the taste was consistent with the Sapporo branch I tried couple of days ago. The egg with rice had a slightly bigger portion here though.

Located in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture and founded in 1985, Reimenya serves the Hiroshima specialty, Hiroshima tsukemen (cold noodles). The Reimenya owner trained at a noodle shop which is said to be the founding father of Hiroshima cold noodles. The cold noodles, made with carefully selected ingredients of the season and diligently prepared from 4 a.m. each morning, are a classic Hiroshima food which have attracted many eager customers over the years. The spicy dipping sauce with plenty of chili oil and sesame seeds goes well with the made-to-order noodles and is popular also with a beer or two.

King-ken is a shiru-nashi tantan-men (noodles without soup) restaurant located about two minutes on foot from the Hiroshima Electric Railway Chuden-mae tram stop. They have a restaurant not just in Hiroshima but in Tokyo also, and the restaurant has become well-known as it has been featured in many magazines and guidebooks. Their specially made sauce prepared over time using homemade five-spice chili oil, rested for at least a month and a half, and their own original blend of szechuan peppers, is something King-ken is most proud of. Guests should stir the sauce more than 20 times before eating, then smother the specially prepared medium-thin noodles with the other ingredients into the sauce and eat. The restaurant is stylishly decorated and women, even by themselves, will find it easy to enter.

    Hiroshima Hiroshima-shi Nishi-ku Nakahiromachi 3-20-7
This ramen restaurant aims to be both delicious and healthy. Located a 10-minute walk from Yokogawa Station, the restaurant takes pride in making bowls of safe, healthy ramen. In order to ensure that everyone can feel safe eating its ramen, as much as possible the restaurant avoids the use of food additives, chemical seasonings, and vegetables grown with agricultural chemicals. Also aiming to be a restaurant which is as self-sufficient as possible in its ingredients, the establishment discloses the sources of its ingredients whenever able to. Highly popular with women, many days it’s not unusual to find a line of customers waiting in front of the door before the restaurant even opens.

    Hiroshima Hiroshima-shi Naka-ku Funairihonmachi 12-21
This ramen restaurant is located a one-minute walk from Funairi-hon-machi streetcar stop on the Hiroshima Electric Railway. Identifiable by its red canvas awning, the restaurant serves “neo Hiroshima ramen” made with a tonkotsu pork bone and soy sauce broth. The vaunted standard Motonari Ramen is an exquisite dish featuring medium-thick straight noodles ordered specially from the local Harada Seimen noodle company; an aromatic oil also enhances the ramen’s flavor. And it goes perfectly with the melt-in-your-mouth chashu roast pork filets added on top. The restaurant’s expansive menu also includes choices such as the Musashi Ramen, which features straight, fat noodles in a meat and seafood broth; and the Shoyu Tonkotsu Chuka Soba, a traditional Japanese chuka soba-style ramen with a pork bone and soy sauce broth. The restaurant is closely connected to the local community and so popular lines of waiting customers form before it even opens.

This have to be the best Ramen shop around. The soup and noodle is amazing. Very friendly staff in a quiet space. The price of the Ramen should be more for its quality. It’s a small shop would fit...

    Hiroshima Onomichi-shi Tsuchido 1-12-11
This ramen restaurant is located a five-minute walk from Onomichi Station and can be identified by its blue sign. The owner is dedicated to using ingredients for which the people who made them can easily be identified, and the restaurant in turn serves bowls of safe, healthy ramen made from these ingredients. The restaurant’s staple Onomichi Ramen is topped with crisp home-grown spring onions and is made with an addictive, exquisitely balanced meat and seafood broth. This broth also goes perfectly with the restaurant’s thin noodles, which are not usually seen in Onomichi ramen. For many, Onomichi ramen equals shoyu (soy sauce) ramen, but the restaurant’s simple yet flavorful Setouchi Shio (Salt) Ramen is also popular.

Hiroshima Areas

There is more than meets the eye awaiting any Hiroshima-bound traveler. Kicking off in Hiroshima city, the Peace Memorial Park, Hiroshima Castle, and Shukkeien Garden offer a couple of days of exploring; however, the real beauty lies along the southern coast of the prefecture. There, a series of islands spreads across the Seto Inland Sea: from the mysterious sea-submerged Great Torii Gate at Miyajima Island to the first half of the islands that connect Honshu to Shikoku via six spectacular suspension bridges.
