    Miyashita Brewery is located in Nishigawara, Naka Ward, in the city of Okayama. It is a destination brewery located inside Craft brewery Doppo-kan. It manufactures more than 15 kinds of craft beers, and along with the adjacent sake brewery and whiskey distillery, it offers tours (reservations required) that allow visitors to observe the manufacturing process. There are also a restaurant and a shop on the grounds.

    Ichiyougama Kiln, a source kiln for Bizen pottery, is located along the Sanyo Road in Inbe in the city of Bizen. Visitors can view the process of making Bizen pottery in the onsite studios: creating the clay, forming on the potter’s wheel, and during the semi-annual firing of the kiln in spring and autumn, they can see pottery being put into and removed from the kiln.

    伊部駅から徒歩5分ほど。伊部駅から備前焼のお店が並ぶ通りに入ったところなあります。大きめの店舗で、普段づかいできる器がたくさん販売されています。このあたりにはたくさんお店が並んでいますので、見比べながら好みのものを購入できます。

    Hiruzen Winery, located on Hiruzen Highland in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, produces and sells wine made with home-grown mountain grapes. The wild vines high in iron and polyphenols are a rare variety which are good for health and treasured by the locals. Inside the winery visitors can see where the wine is stored and how it is made from behind the glass. As well as a shop which sells wine and cheese, there is also a bar and cafe where visitors can try some Hiruzen cheese with a glass of wine.

    JFE Steel West Japan Works is a manufacturing plant of the major manufacturing company JFE Steel, located in the city of Kurashiki, Mizushima-Kawasakidori 1-chome. Within the expansive plant grounds are massive mechanical facilities, such as rolling mills. Visitors can tour the plant and watch iron ore being processed and turned into steel plate.

    A 10-minute drive from Mimasaka Interchange. This glass studio is just north of the Mimasaka Culture Center on the left side of the street. The glass pieces by artist Okamoto Tsunehide are characterized by the unique techniques used in their creation and their refusal to conform to established ideas. They also have tableware that resembles the feel of classic porcelain. There are charming blown glass pens made with the same style of techniques used to make wine glasses and perfume bottles. In addition to producing and selling glass works they also offer blown glass experiences and blown glass classes and should you wish to participate we recommend you make prior reservations.

    高梁はJRの線路で武家の町並みと商家の町並みが分かれていて、こちらは商家の町の通りの延長戦にありました。建物は大きいです。平日なら雛人形の製作行程の見学できるようでした。販売人形は週末でも展示されていて、豪華なものでした。

    中山神社の門前にあります。 武蔵の名前を冠したお酒、阿波の米を使ったお酒など地元感たっぷりのお酒が様々な種類揃っています。 純米酒が多いのも良いと思います。 アルコール度数が17〜18%のお酒が多かったので、お酒の弱い人にお土産にするときはちょっと気をつけた方が良いでしょう。

    高梁の山里にある小さな酒造所です。150年くらい経った建物が歴史を感じさせます。見学には予約が必要ですが，コンパクトに工程を見ることが出来ます。またもちろん試飲も出来ました。大規模な酒造所にはない，家庭的な暖かみを感じました。

Overshadowed by Hiroshima to the west and the Kansai region to the east, Okayama is an easy spot to miss but a nature-rich gem where the Seto Inland Sea laps at its toes and peach and grape farms complete its interior.
