This western-style patissier and bakery is about 500 meters from Oda City office. The shop, marked by its brick-style exterior, serves hand-made European treats and baked goods. Not only are their seasonal baked treats delicious, but they are a decorated to be a delight for all five senses. They stand out because many of their ingredients, including the flour, eggs, and honey, are locally produced. Their Cookie Choux Cream puffs, topped with almond cookies filled with local Nekka eggs and Hokkaido butter, are filled with cream only on order. The texture balance of smooth custard cream and crispy crust have made them a real local favorite.

Shimane Areas

around-area-map

What Shimane prefecture lacks in size and population, it makes up for in scenery and ancient mythology. Izumo-taisha, in the middle of the prefecture, is said to be Japan’s oldest Shinto shrine, where stories that delve into the creation of the Japanese race have been passed down over centuries. The 180 Oki Islands, a 40-minute ferry ride north of Sakaiminato, offer an undiscovered paradise well off the beaten track.
