- This 1,300 year old hot spring district is the oldest in the Sanin region and has been designated a National Hot Spring Health Resorts, a mark of its excellence. Situated along the Gamou River known as clean stream, the district has a quiet and simple atmosphere. An unusual bathing custom is found in the area; called yukamuri, local bathers will place a tenugui hand towel on the top of their head and pour water over it with a ladle. The waters of the area's sulfate springs are said to treat nerve pain, rheumatism, and women's diseases, and, when drunk, gastrointestinal disorders and hemorrhoids. There are also an abundance of sightseeing destinations in the area, including the Old Iwai Elementary School, the oldest extant Western-style building in Tottori Prefecture; Miyu-jinja Shrine, believed to have been constructed in the early Heian period; and the Yukamuri Gallery, an art museum dedicated to the early Showa woman artist Midori Osaki.

アニメ『Ｆｒｅｅ！』にも度々登場するお宿です。お父さんとお母さんが、温かく迎えて下さる、まるで実家に帰ったような気楽さが嬉しいです。お食事は、山海の旬の物が堪能できます。

貧乏旅ですが、奮発してニュー大谷に泊まってみた。ご主人のホスピタリティや朝食サービスはお値段以上。アニメの舞台になっているのか、独特の内装が目を引くがアニメについては明るくないため評価保留。最寄のコンビニまでそこそこ歩くので自転車を借りられるのも良い。

この週末（3月21日宿泊）に利用させていただきました。 青山剛昌ふるさと館（北栄町）を訪ねた後、宿泊しました（約1時間）。 宿には予定よりやや遅れて到着したのですが、にこやかに迎えていただき、すぐに夕食。テーブルいっぱいに海の幸が並びました。ヒラメのお刺身（一尾まるごと／一家）や蒸しガニ、お刺身、天ぷら、カレイの煮物と海の幸で満腹になりました。食べきれないほどでした。 朝食の焼き魚と目玉...

3歳と0歳の子連れで宿泊。部屋はふすま仕切りでカギなし、結構急な階段、風呂は1つです。あと、普通の家のようで、フロントはなかったです。満室ではなかったようなので（隣がいなかった）特に不便を感じることはなかったです。部屋もお風呂もとても綺麗に清掃されていました。階段は年配の方にはきついかな？宿の方は本当に親切で、食事も本当においしかったです。隣の部屋が空いていたので、そこでの食事でした。これは楽でし...
