Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Junibanchou 87 Le Chateau Yodocho 1F
The second location of the popular Ramen Marui situated in Nakanoshima, Wakyama City, the Juniban-cho shop is just a 10 minute walk from Wakayamashi Station. Making use of select ingredients such as chashu pork fillets made from Kagoshima Sanmi-ton pork, used in high class inns, the shop is particularly famous for using ryokuho kuronegi green onions, a type of kujonegi onion. The springy homemade noodles, tonkotsu broth slow-stewed over a two day period, and heaping helping of chopped spring onions whets the appetite. The shop also offers a full lunch weekday set menu; the half-sized ramen and rice set is particularly popular with women.

Good taste ramen, a plenty of green onions make it more delicious. Regrettably I prefer more hard noodle.

This ramen restaurant in Kemi, Wakayama City, Wakayama, began as a food stand in front of the garage of the streetcar. This famous store has kept the traditional taste of Chinese soba noodles for over half a century. This ramen is outstanding with a light taste but thick soy sauce and pork broth combined with their straight hand-made noodles. Many are fans of their large pork thigh chashu. Their side menu also offers soft gyoza dumplings and more.

    Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Fukumachi 12
This ramen restaurant is known as the representative of Wakayama ramen and is so popular you will always find a long line at peak times. This long-established restaurant has kept the taste of its Yamatame Ramen since its founding in 1953. Their special Chuka Soba (Chinese noodles) has a rich taste with thick noodles in pork soy sauce broth. The noodles soak up the taste when they’re put in the broth and warm up. The counter seating makes it very easy for single patrons to enter. The nearest train station is Wakayama City Station.

    Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Saikamachi 120
You’ll find this ramen shop in Saika Town, Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. It is a longstanding shop that opened in 1958 as a street stall. The “chuka-soba” (Chinese noodles) use a soy sauce-based broth that is both rich and has a pleasant aftertaste, and the medium-thickness noodles complement it perfectly. The “char siu ramen,” another popular option, has so many roast pork fillets that you can’t see the noodles. The shop is designed like a cafe and is inviting for women as well. “Haya-nare sushi,” a Kishu specialty, and rice balls are placed on the table; you self-report the fee at checkout.

    Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Shintori 3-3-1
This is a cafe offering Buddhist vegetarian cuisine one road off of the Keyaki main street in Shintori 3-chome, Wakayama City. Of course shunning fish and meat, they also refrain from using any vegetables with the strong smell of chive or garlic in their original Shojin cuisine. They serve yakuzen-nabe (medicinal herb hotpot), curry, cutlet and rice bowl with sauce, pasta and sandwiches, as well as handmade sweets such as cakes without milk or eggs, and Snowflake Ice using Taiwanese shaved ice.

    Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Kuroda 2-1-25
Kaiseki-ryori (traditional Japanese multi-course meal) restaurant located near JR Wakayama Station. Not only the food, but also the interior decoration is made with local Wakayama products, from the tables and shelves to the clay walls made of Wakayama soil, and floorboards made of cypress or cedar, all from Wakayama. Because we carefully select seasonal ingredients, many of our menu items are limited in time and quantity, so you can enjoy dishes that are unique to the season. A variety of single dishes such as salad and deep-fried dishes are also available. The original ponzu vinegar used at the restaurant is also available for sale.

    Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Kada 196
This restaurant is located next to Kada Fishing Port, overlooking the islands of Okinoshima and Jinoshima. It serves seafood provided directly from the fishing port, prepared in ways that bring out its natural flavors. It is especially proud of its Arani (fish head stew) made exclusively with the specialty sea bream and no sugar or miso, a process that brings out the essential sweetness of the fish. This dish has been featured in several newspaper articles and television shows. Other popular options include Tako Inari (octopus served in a pouch of fried tofu), which is even served as a take-away box lunch at Kansai International Airport, longtooth grouper fish dishes served only in the winter, and pike conger dishes served only in the summer.

"This ramen shop is at Temari Square in Honmachi, Wakayama City. Their broth made with pork and chicken bones, boned pork rib called “chashu"" simmered for a long time with their secret soy sauce at low temperature, and a nicely sweet seasoning known as “kaeshi"" are all superb. These and fine al dente noodles go into their Wakayama style “Kotaro Ramen"" with its moderately rich pork bone soy sauce broth. You can also try their soy sauce ramen for a lighter flavor. They've been featured in a variety of media, including on a popular Thai television program."

The restaurant is close do my hotel and recommended by receptionist. We enjoy ramen and sushi served on bambus :)

Wakayama Pref. Wakayamashi Minato Nishinobori 45-1
A seafood restaurant which serves up the delicacies of Nankikatsuura seiromushi style (steamed in a bamboo steamer). The restaurant is situated along the Oura Highway not far from Wakayama Port. Seiromushi cooking makes use of almost no seasoning and is served when the food is at its most delicious, thus it is cooked right in front of customers. Designed to harness the innate flavors of the foods used, seiromushi cooking is renowned for being delicious despite the lack of seasoning. The restaurant also serves southern Wakayama cuisine such as dishes made with tuna straight from Katsuura, Pacific saury sushi, and meharizushi rice balls wrapped in pickled mustard greens. In addition, the restaurant offers reasonably priced lunch items and has a children’s menu, making it a great dining destination for the whole family.

This pizzeria is located in Shioya, Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. Here you can enjoy authentic pizzas baked in a firewood oven, as well as other Italian dishes. The restaurant's expansive menu encompasses everything from Italian standards to novel dishes, including appetizer assortments, Sicilian and margherita pizzas made with buffalo milk cheese, and asari clam and scallop tomato spaghetti garnished with herb breadcrumbs. Note that the restaurant closes when it runs out of its supply of pizza dough for the day. Parking available.

    Wakayama Wakayama-shi Kada 118
This restaurant and seafood shop stands on the grounds of Awashima Shrine. Renowned for the exquisite shellfish the staff grills, here you can enjoy turban shell cooked in the shell, grilled purple large asari clams, asari clams steamed in sake, and other shellfish delicacies prepared on the spot. Particularly recommended are the zaru udon noodles served on a draining basket and made with fresh wakame seaweed from Kada Port mixed into the noodle dough. The wakame gives the noodles a lovely green color. The shop also sells zenzai sweet azuki bean soup, amazake (sweet fermented rice drink), and other sweets, making it a great place to stop and take a break after hours of walking in the area. In addition, you can buy a variety of souvenirs here, as well as Kada specialty products like turban shell and other shellfish, plus himono dried fish; wakame udon noodles; and spicy pickled jellyfish and sea urchin, which is so popular, orders for it come in from across the country.

This log house-style cafe stands on a hill. From the cafe's windows and terrace seating area, customers can take in the spectacular scenery of the Kitan Strait. The cafe's cakes and light foods such as curry, pastas, and pizza are all made by the family which owns the establishment. The no-bake cheesecake is particularly popular because of its rich flavor and creamy texture. The cafe also serves an array of black teas, herbal tea and fruit juice blends, and other beverages; coffee is served in a small pot containing enough for two cups, ensuring you can take your time while experiencing the beautiful view.
