The market is filled with shipping crates and styrofoam boxes, and customers speak directly to one of the fisherman working inside, saying what fish they want and negotiating the price. Operating hours vary by season; between October and mid-May, fresh green tiger prawn, sea bream, red tonguesole, and other fresh seafood is delivered to the market from 3 p.m. onward. Seafood delivers occur from 8:30 p.m. onward from mid-May until Sports Day in October, and during this time the market is filled with daggertooth pike conger and southern rough shrimp. Note that the market is closed on days with poor weather.
