Wakayama Higashimuro-gun Kozagawa Cho Mitogawa 302
This tree is located approximately a 30-minute drive from the JR Koza Station. The Gingko tree can be appreciated from inside the temple grounds just off the road that runs alongside Mito River, which is a tributary of Koza River. It has been designated as a cultural asset of Kozagawa Town, and is estimated to be around 400 years old. It is a magnificent tree, approximately 30 meters tall, and with a trunk of approximately 6 meters. Rumors spread that the protrusions that hang from its branches resemble the shape of breasts, and that praying at the tree will bless those who are unable to bear children, and it eventually came to be called a Birth-Blessing Gingko tree.
