    A public municipal park located across the Arida River from Minoshima Station on the Kii Main Line. The park was created in 1950 by Toyomatsu Norioka to honor the souls of all the innocent, non-military persons who died during the battles of the Pacific War. In 1967, it was gifted to the city and turned into a public park. Numerous cherries, azaleas, and other attractive trees and plants grow on the park’s 5,186 square meter grounds. Today, the park is renowned in spring for its beautiful blossoming cherry trees, known locally as the “Muen-san no Sakura” (“Cherry Trees of the Innocent”). The top of the park’s mountain commands a view of the mouth of the Arida River and the beach of Hatsushima, famous Shikoku destinations. Buddhist memorial services are held in the park in spring and summer which attract many visitors.

    This spot is said to be where the sorcerer Jofuku arrived in Japan seeking the elixir of eternal youth at the behest of Emperor Qin of China, in third century BC. It was established as a park in 1994. The tomb of Jofuku, surrounded by the trees from which the tendaiu elixir was made, is here, as well as his epitaph and the Nanatsuka memorial to Jofuku’s seven vassals. At the shop one can buy tea that contains the tendaiuyaku (miraculous medicinal plant), as well as rent bicycles and Chinese style costumes.

    So Jofuku is really a court shaman from China and it was really interesting to learn more about him. I dont know if the elixir of life plant works for health, but you can buy some products .ade...

    A nature park located not far from the Kainan-higashi Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway. The Kaze no Ko-kan hall just past the main gate has a giant net playground and ball pool for younger children, ensuring that kids can play here even on rainy days. The hall also has an aquarium exhibit with fish from Kainan City’s Kame River, a picture book corner, and a workshop where creative classes are held. In addition, there’s a playground in the plaza outside the hall as well as facilities and locations where visitors can enjoy natural beauty like the “Water Lily Valley” garden planted with water lilies and azaleas. Further, the park has a restaurant and café corner, providing spaces for both children and adults to relax and have fun together.

    Here you can enjoy both the sea and the aquarium. Enjoy sites that you can’t see anywhere else including the world’s northernmost largest community of table coral and schools of swimming bluefin tuna. You can also try feeding the turtles and the tuna or go whale watching and check out the flying fish. In 2005 it joined the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

    "This park in Kimino Town has a theme of “closeness."" Their Wanpaku Square is fun for everyone from kids to adults. It combines a playground with a big castle that has slides, a suspension bridge, a climbing wall, and more. From the adjacent lookout there's a great view of the park's natural scenery. They have lots of other facilities too, like 20 campsites (no equipment rental) and the first 36-hole park golf course in Wakayama Prefecture, officially recognized by the Nippon Park Golf Association."

    紀美野町は合併前は野上町だったのでこの名前になっている山の上にある公園で、芝生広場、遊具、オートキャンプ場、パターゴルフ場などがある。 隣に和歌山県動物愛護センターがあり、犬ネコとのふれあいコーナーもある。子供連れで行っても楽しい場所。園内に産直品販売とカフェのふれあい館がある。

    This park with its natural and agricultural themes is about 15 minutes by car from Wakayama Interchange. It consists of two areas: The Nature Observation Forest and the Ryokka Kaju-en Orchard. Kids learn about the natural world at both the Nature Center and the Entrance Plaza with their ample playground equipment and reading materials. The park's many hands-on workshops let parents, kids, and their friends get in touch with nature year-round. Visitors also enjoy viewing their rose conservatory with nearly 800 bushes, as well as the roughly 900 bushes in their rose garden.

    A 20-minute drive from JR Kii-Uchihara Station. This nature park is situated on top of 327.8-meter-high Mt. Nishi located on the border between Hidaka Town and Mihama Town. Outfitted with walking paths and rest areas, the park is the perfect destination for picnicking and hiking; an observatory in the park also offers a sweeping view encompassing the Hidaka Plain, Enjugahama Beach, the Hiisaki Coast, and the Kii Channel. The fantastic scenery visible from here was also selected for inclusion in a list of the 100 best sunrises and sunsets in Wakayama. Visitors to the park can also see seasonal flowering plants and wild birds.

    This national park straddles the three prefectures of Wakayama, Mie and Nara, and is made up of the mountainous areas located in the middle of the Kii Peninsula and the rivers and coastal areas located in the southern part of the peninsula. There are many scenic sights in the park such as Yoshino Mountain, famous as one of Japan’s top cherry blossom viewing areas, the well-known and highest peak in the Kinki region Mt. Hakkyogatake, Kareki Nada known for its beautiful scenery, as well as numerous historical buildings including the Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine, which is registered as a World Heritage Site. There are visitor centers in two areas of the park in Ukui and Odaigahara, exhibiting materials on nature and the ecosystems of each region, as well as periodically holding events such as nature observation sessions etc. Sign language or written messages may be used for communication.

    This park is located about ten minutes from Kainan-higashi Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway. Kameike Pond is a reservoir created by Izawa Yasobee during the Edo period. It is one of the largest reservoirs in Wakayama Prefecture and also the one in Wakayama Prefecture selected as one of the 100 Best Japanese Reservoirs. An artificial island has been built in the center of the pond. Soseikaku, a villa belonging to the Kishu Tokugawa family, was relocated to the island in 1968. The park is also famous for the 2000 or so cherry trees have been planted along the promenade that surrounds the pond as well as around Soseikaku.

    A 60-minute bus ride from JR Kumanoshi Station. This public park is situated along National Route 169 facing the Kitayama River. The park grounds are dotted with a variety of facilities, including a restaurant, hot spring bathhouse, and camping bungalows and auto camping site, all of which are connected by a road. There's also tennis courts equipped for nighttime games and an outdoor adventure club base. The Kitayama Village Tourism Center accepts reservations for traditional log river rafting down the Kitayama River. The park is the perfect place to enjoy activities in the great outdoors.

    This park is located in Wakaura, Wakayama City in a place a scenic beauty associated with the Manyoshu, the oldest collection of Japanese poetry complied in the 7th to 8th century. It was developed on a sand spit that protrudes more than one kilometer into Wakaura Bay from the mouth of the Waka River. The park features a wide variety of facilities. This includes a Japanese Garden, an outdoor stage, the Manyokan hall, which hosts exhibits and other events, an exhibition hall, and the Kenkokan, an athletic hall with a gymnasium and other facilities. There is also Marishiza, a restaurant that serves natural-style cuisine. Kataonami Beach is located on the ocean side of the park.

    Wakayama Municipal Seseragi Park is a multi-purpose park located along the riverbed of the Kinokawa River, a favorite recreation area for the people of Wakayama. The park contains swings and other playground equipment, pavilions, benches, and athletic fields, as well as ample parking. It is popular with families, and it is also a good but little-known spot for fishing. Fishing enthusiasts flock here during goby season.

    "This venue is located in Kumano-Karekinada Kaigan Prefectural Natural Park approximately 15 minutes on foot from JR Mirozu and Esumi Stations. As the name suggests, it takes children's songs as its theme. When it opened in 1987 it was the first park of its kind in Japan. It has areas like the Kishu Kids Song Plaza featuring three tunes, including the locally popular ""The Flowers Laughed."" The Kids Song Promenade along the coast has monuments to seven songs. Music plays from the park's statues and monuments, letting you hear the tunes for yourself. Continuing south will bring you to the National Natural Monument of Esuzaki Island with its native forest."

    This nature park is just a short walk from the Rinkai stop on the Meiko Bus town loop. It is located at the southern edge of Tanabe Bay, and there's a view from the park's three lookouts of the Engetsu and Tojima Islands. As the park once was home to a botanical garden and a zoo, some unusual flora and fauna remain to this day. In summer and autumn, you might spot the oyadokari hermit crab, a protected species and designated as Natural Monument. The grounds also host the Minakata Kumagusu Museum that you can enjoy along with the park's zodiac carvings.

    This Park is 10 minutes by municipal circulating bus from JR Taiji Station, right at the Kujirakan Mae bus stop. The park contains a whale museum, an aquarium, a whaling ship, and other facilities that allow visitors to learn about whales. At the whale museum, the attractions include shows by performing whales and dolphins, and afterwards, visitors can interact with the animals by feeding them or pretending to be a trainer. The complete skeleton of a blue whale is on exhibit, and visitors view it up close. A diorama that recreates traditional whaling methods is exhibited.

    This park near Miyukitsuji Station is the largest in Hashimoto City. They have lots of fun facilities like an athletic playscape, jungle gym, rope swing, and a playground. Its home to seasonal flowers and trees and is a great spot to see the colored leaves in fall. Walkways pass among the cherry trees and azalea bushes, and you can walk across the suspension bridge that traverses the pond. The regional museum exhibits mingu folk art and local historical items. Entry is free of charge.

    "This park is located about a three-minute walk from Kanroji-Mae Station on the Wakayama Electric Railway Kishigawa Line. The park, which is well-known as a haven for many wild birds including waterfowl and migratory birds, was built around Hiraike Pond, a reservoir of about 1.5 kilometers in circumference. The promenade that circles the pond is a favorite place for many local residents to take a relaxing walk. Around July visitors can also see Oga Lotus flowers early in the morning The park has also been selected as one of the 100 best places for the sunrise and sunset in Wakayama Prefecture. A group of three ancient tombs called the Hiraike Tombs dot the surrounding area. On clear days it is possible to view Mt. Ryumon, which is called the ""Mt. Fuji of Kishu."""
