    A private museum built in Naramachi (Town of Nara), an area which still retains an old-fashioned townscape. A portion of the owner’s home was remodeled to make a space for the museum. The museum presents the history and culture of Naramachi via folk custom materials, signs, Buddhist imagery, artwork, and old items once used as part of people’s everyday lives from the Edo to the Taisho periods. The museum also sells “migawari-saru (monkey),” local charms which provide protection from evil and harm. Museum entry is free. Closest station: Kintetsu-Nara Station.

    The village of Asuka, in the Takaichi District of Nara Prefecture, whose name was once written with the characters for “Soaring Bird,” is well-known as the ancient birthplace of the nation we now call Japan. The Asuka Historical Museum was opened in 1975 to investigate, research, and exhibit cultural properties from the area around Asuka Village. The museum has artifacts excavated from sites like the Takamatsuzuka Tomb on permanent display, teaching visitors about the history and culture of Asuka from the time Buddhism was conveyed to Japan in the sixth century up to the transition of the capital to Nara in the early eighth century. The museum also contains a recreation of the Yamada-dera Temple, an early Buddhist temple erected by Soga no Kurayamada no Ishikawa no Maro, who was accused of treason after the Taika Reforms of 645.

    A museum in Imai Town, Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture which preserves and displays materials relating to the history and culture of the area. The building was originally built as the Takaichi County Education Museum in 1903. Later, the structure was also used as the Imai town hall and today is designated a Cultural Property by Nara Prefecture. The first floor hosts dioramas replicating how Imai once looked, a theater, library, and exhibition space, while the second floor is a lecture hall. The facility also serves as an information center for Imai Town, which retains an old-fashioned townscape dating back to the Edo period.

    A museum dedicated to goldfish located in Yamatokoriyama, Nara, a city famous for producing goldfish. Goldfish are said to have been brought to Yamatokoriyama by Yanagisawa Yoshisato, who moved here to be the lord of the area during the Edo period, and it is believed that the techniques required for their cultivation were passed from samurai to farmers as a side business. The museum presents tools used in goldfish cultivation, items relating to folk customs, and goldfish-themed ukiyoe woodblock prints and ancient books. The museum’s goldfish aquariums, containing everything from ancestor varieties to high class and rare breeds, are a must-see.

    金魚養殖の業者の「やまと錦魚園」がやっている無料の資料館で、見るだけでなく、金魚を飼うことができる。30個ほどの水槽にそれぞれ珍しい金魚が観賞用に展示されている。それ以外に様々な大きさのたくさんの水槽に、何万円もするものなども売られていて、自由に見ることができる。

The Asuka History Park is divided into five areas, each providing information regarding each district and exhibiting displays related to the history of Asuka. Information can be easily accessed through panel displays, as well as commentary by diorama, animation and a touch panel computer.

    休息がてらに寄らさせてもらいました。明日香村内に有る史跡などがパネルやミニチュアなどで紹介しています(無料)。駐車場も有るので車でも来れますよ。この館の裏に有る池のある公園も気分転換に散策出来ます。

The museum displays Nara lacquerware, ittobori hand-carved figures, and a variety of other traditional Nara crafts, as well as the tools involved in their production. The museum also sells crafts, and holds live demonstrations and classes; as well as the Nara Crafts Festival once a year.

    A history museum located in Asuka Village, Takaichi County, Nara Prefecture. The museum displays materials related to the Takamatsuzuka Tomb, which drew immediate national attention in 1972 when vividly colored murals were discovered during an excavation at the site. The museum displays life-sized replicas of stone rooms and murals found at the site and created in the same manner as the originals as well as replicas of articles found at the site such as a decorative long sword fitting, Kaiju Budo Kyo of a Chinese style (mirror decorated with marine mammals), and metal coffin fittings. A essential destination for any sightseeing visit to Asuka, the facility is visited by great numbers of tourists from both in and outside Japan.

    This museum contains exhibits on the kinds of tools used as part of daily life historically in Tenkawa Village (such as tools used for mountain work, bent wood ladles, rice scoops, and sake barrel-making tools); as well as exhibits on the mountain worship which flourished and is still active in the area today. The entrance area, recently remodeled in 2006, also now serves as a gallery. In addition to exhibitions featuring paintings, photographs, woodblock prints, and other works of art connected to the area, the museum also holds talks and music events using a stage built around a traditional Japanese irori sunken hearth.

    源流の森シアターは是非見た方がいいです、川上村の自然がよくわかります、ただ巨大なスクリーンが5面もあって首の移動が忙しい。 定期的に水源地の森ツアーを実施しているようなので子供連れにもお勧め 駐車場は国道から道を1本川側へ入った場所でエレベーターもあります

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
