    12 souvenir shops and restaurants operate inside this complex located in the center of Nara Park. In addition to more conventional souvenirs, visitors can also find Daibutsu Pudding, which exploded in popularity after it was featured on television, as well as traditional “Yamato” vegetables and fruits stocked from nearby farmers. Yume-Kaze Plaza is also home to several restaurants, including a casual Italian restaurant perfect for lunch as well as a venerable establishment favored for its kudzu sweets and meals made with local Nara ingredients. The natural scenery, including a commanding view of Mt. Wakakusa, Mt. Mikasa, and Mt. Tamuke, is spectacular, and the facility is visited by many tourists and students on school outings.

    This restaurant dedicated to regional cuisine is located in the Nakasenbon area on Mt. Yoshino. Diners can enjoy kudzu udon noodles, a Yoshino specialty, as well as vinegared mackerel sushi wrapped in persimmon leaves while gazing out at the beautiful scenery of Yoshino. The popular Yoshino nabe hotpot (reservation required) is filled with Yoshino-farmed tofu made with water from a famous spring, beef, vegetables, wild plants, and kudzu. The persimmon leaf sushi is also available for takeout.

    This is a combined facility located around one minute's walk from Kintetsu Nara Station, containing 12 stores including restaurants and beauty salons. The facility consists of two floors with open space is a wide area where one can enjoy Japanese taste in Nara style. There are several gourmet options available in this one building including a French restaurant run by an experienced chef from a famous place, ramen, handmade tofu and yuba (tofu skin), and a steak house serving carefully-selected Wagyu beef.     This is a tofu cuisine restaurant located along Prefectural Route 15 in Yoshinoyama, Yoshino Town. They make tofu with carefully selected ingredients including high quality domestic soy beans and water from the Yoshino Omine mountain range, and serve yu-dofu (boiled tofu), tofu skin hamburger, tofu ramen made with tofu noodles, and tofu zukushi-zen where one can try different types of tofu cuisine. In addition to the cafe menu with items such as tofu donuts and tofu soft ice cream, they also sell tofu along with other souvenirs.

    Best okonomiyaki of our trip so far! We had the beef and it had big slices of meat in it which was refreshing (not stingy at all). Yakisoba was yum but not as good as the pancake

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
