The shop also sells Kuzu confectionaries and souvenir sets.

    This is a teahouse inside the tea-growing district of Nigatsu-do within Todaiji Temple. They serve hoji-cha (roasted tea) boiled in kettles boasting a history of over 200 years alongside sweets including warabi-mochi (bracken starch dumplings) and ohagi (rice balls covered with sweet bean). It is also the only place to sell Todaiji Temple traditional Gyoho Miso made with soy beans and burdock, a food loved by the monks who practice asceticism.

    A popular tea house with terrace seating offering a superb view located in the Nakasenbon area on Mt. Yoshino. The first location on Mt. Yoshino to sell kudzu mochi rice cakes and kuzu-kiri kudzu jelly noodles, the shop’s signature and delectable “kuzubana” is made by stuffing soft and chewy kudzu jelly with locally grown sweet adzuki been paste. The shop offers an abundance of items perfect for enjoying during a short break in a stroll, such as the matcha green tea set.

    あんこをぷるぷるのくずで包んだ和菓子に抹茶が付いたセットを頼みました。お天気が良ければ、テラス席が気持ちいいです。店主に柿の葉寿司の美味しいお店を教えていただき助かりました。

    A shaved ice and tea specialty shop located a seven minute walk from Kintetsu-Nara Station. This popular shop is visited by a great many people even in winter. The shop uses pure Nara ice slowly frozen over a period of three days for its shaved ice treats. The milk, honey, matcha green tea powder, and other ingredients used by the shop are also primarily from Nara. The shop’s signature espuma shaved ice is made with thinly shaved ice topped with mousse-like espuma syrup. Fluffy and light, many customers come from far and wide to experience this sweet and its unique texture. Only 200 are served each day.

    This coffee shop is located in Yanagimoto Town, Tenri City. The shop is inside the owner’s Japanese-style house, and customers can relax in the tatami room or the engawa (narrow wooden veranda) viewing the garden. The shop’s specialty is an original Japanese-style coffee, brewed and whisked in a green tea bowl.

    三輪〜柳本の山の辺の道ハイキング途中で一息したくて寄りました。完全なる民家、しかも仏間で面白かったです。お庭の向こうに三輪山を望めました。抹茶には虎屋の羊羹が、しかも太めにカットされた状態で出てきて驚きました。和風コーヒーはマイルドで、普段カフェ・オ・レの私も美味しくいただけました。またおじゃましたいです。

    This is a tea room inside the precincts of Kanon-ji Temple known as Ofusa Kannon, located in Ousacho Town, Kashihara City. Visitors can enjoy tea and sweets in the tea room situated in the center of a traditional Japanese garden designed as a strolling path. The tea house was built in 1915 in the goten-zukuri architecture style. The shaved ice, only available during summer, is also popular.

    南門から入って広場・本堂・円空庭・放生池を経て百メートル以上の一番北側の庫裏の一角にある。 朝早くて、開いている時間ではなかった。面白そうなのでまたの楽しみとしたい。

    This tea house and restaurant known for its Nara chameshi (rice boiled in tea and flavored with sake and shoyu) and warabimochi (bracken starch dumplings) has been in operation for more than 140 years since being established in the early Meiji period. The historic Japanese-style interior is a place where guests can relax while enjoying sweets or a meal. Their warabimochi and matcha tea sets, Yanagijaya parfaits, and milk warabimochi are some of their most popular items.

    猿沢池の横にあり、抹茶アイスにつぶあんが乗っていて、白玉も美味しかったですよ。甘さも控えめで、カロリーも気にせず、一気に食べてしまいました。

    This facility with a Japanese-style sweets cafe is operated by Morino Yoshino-Kuzu Honpo, a company which has been producing Yoshino kuzu starch for over 450 years, since the time of Japan's Southern Court. Here you can enjoy kuzukiri kuzu starch noodles, kuzumochi kuzu starch cakes, warabimochi bracken starch dumplings, kuzuyu kuzu starch gruel, select matcha green tea (which comes with kuzu yokan kuzu starch jelly), and more. There's also a shop inside selling real Yoshino kuzu starch, and kuzu starch confections.

    Gran Cha 在近鉄奈良站東向商店街裏。鋪面主要是賣大福，後面甜品店，有座位可以坐下吃其他甜品。當天我們則上了二樓，那裏是吃釜飯的，種類有燒鯖魚，鰻魚，和牛，蝦和嫩雞。釜飯應該是現製的，我們等了十五分鐘左右，釜飯套餐送到了。飯是熱騰騰的，我們點的和牛和燒鯖魚也非常美味。套餐附有湯和漬物，而且吃了一半之後，還可以要高湯和wasabi，加入飯裏當泡飯吃。值得推介。

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
