"This history museum is known by the nickname ""Shio to Gishi no Yakata,"" a reference to the city's salt production and its famous 47 ronin. The museum collects and exhibits materials related to local history with an objective of contributing to the advancement of education and the development of culture. Each of the permanent exhibits covers a different theme. ""The Salt of Ako"" has a focus on salt-making equipment. ""Ako Castle and Its Castle Town"" introduces it through models and paintings. ""The Loyal Retainers of Ako"" covers the 47 ronin in terms of both historical fact as well as their depiction in culture. ""The Old Ako Waterworks"" explains it through excavated artifacts, videos, and other exhibits. The museum is a hub for raising public awareness about the Ako's 47 ronin and a place where visitors can take a systematic look at the history of salt-making."

A museum located in Onaka Iseki Park (Harima Oponaka no mura), a park built around a historic ruin. The museum has four themed exhibition rooms and, with an advance reservation, visitors can enjoy a guided tour provided by a curator or volunteer. At scheduled times each day, visitors can try making tools and crafts used by ancient people in Japan such as magatama beads, stone knives, and woven cords in the hands-on learning room. The museum also holds fire making activities as well as coloring and pottery picture matching activities. One room recreates what an archeological dig looks like and visitors can even potentially try taking part in archeological work. The museum's special exhibitions are held twice a year in spring and fall.

Great for all ages. A lot of detailed information about prehistoric Japan. Kids’s craft activities, some fill up fast. Nice, extensive park with replica structures. Only downside is there is almost...

"This science museum is located in Nishiwaki, a city located at the intersection of the 135th meridian east and the 35th parallel north, earning it the nickname ""the navel of Japan."" The earth and space-themed museum is equipped an array of with facilities including an observatory with a large reflector telescope. The humorous exterior depicts a round face with dizzy eyes that represents the chaos of the universe. The museum regularly hosts a range of events. It holds stargazing parties every Saturday and on days before long holidays. On Sundays and holidays it holds science classes where children can experience the wonder of science firsthand through experiments, crafts, and other activities. Stargazing parties are also held during the day, when it is possible to view the brighter planets, the sun, and other astronomical objects on clear days."

Hyogo prefecture stretches from the north coast to the south coast on the western end of the popular Kansai region, encompassing verdant mountains, urban beaches, and fantastic historical sights. The prefecture’s main attractions lie along the south coast at Kobe, the prefectural capital, a pretty harbor city best known for its production of the renowned Kobe beef, and Himeji, the home of Himeji Castle, one of the country’s most beautifully preserved feudal castles, perched magically atop a hill.
