    Hyogo Pref. Asagoshi Wadayamachoutakeda
This mountain-top castle built on land at an elevation of 353 meters is also known as Torafusu-jo (Lying Tiger Castle) due to its shape which resembles a tiger lying down. Looking up at the castle from down below, it appears as though it is floating in the sky, and since it is enveloped by a sea of clouds that form due to the early morning fog in the autumn, it is also nicknamed the “castle in the sky” and “Japan’s Machu Picchu.” The season when the sea of clouds appears is from September through November, and the time from dawn to about 8:00 a.m. is recommended for the best view. One can see the entire castle floating in the sea of clouds from Ritsuunkyo halfway up Mt. Asago on Takeda Castle’s southeastern side.

It is said that the priest Dochi, who opened Kinosaki Onsen with a prayer opened the temple. Emperor Shomu called the temple ""Kinosaki Onsen no Shugoji (guardian temple of Kinosaki Onsen)"", and it has protected Kinosaki Onsen and its bathers for approximately 1,300 years. The Standing Eleven-headed Kannon statue that Dochi received when it was opened is the principal Buddhist image of the temple and a nationally-designated Important Cultural Property. Normally it is shown every 33 years, it is displayed to the public at the event called Kaisanki, where prayers are said every April 24 so that the hot springs continue to spring up."
