    Hyogo Kobe-shi Kita-ku Ogocho Ogo 754-1
This venerable Japanese confectionary shop established in 1882 can be easily identified by its large watchtower-like sign. It continues to create healthy traditional Japanese sweets that never wear out their welcome. Their flagship Toyosuke Manju steamed buns feature a simple Kyoto-style strained bean paste filling inside of an extra-thin pastry covering. The confection first came to prominence after becoming popular with the hot spring cure-seekers who visited Ogo, which prospered as a post town on a byroad of the Saigoku Kaido Highway. The shop makes the manju several times per day out of a desire to hand customers the freshest product possible. Customers can enjoy freshly-made manju together with complementary tea inside the shop's rest space.

A soba restaurant located in the Arima Onsen hot spring district. Depending on how they will be eaten, the restaurant makes its noodles with flours made from two different varieties of buckwheat-Shinshu Shinano No. 1 and Dattan Soba. Both varieties are used to make juwari soba noodles made with 100% buckwheat flour and ni-hachi soba noodles made with 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour, giving customers the opportunity to taste, compare, and choose their favorite mix. In order to allow customers to further enjoy the flavor of the noodles, the restaurant's cold zaru soba noodles are garnished with salt in addition to a dashi dipping sauce. The restaurant offers a free soba noodle making class and, with an advance reservation, customers can choose to make either juwari or ni-hachi noodles and then boil and eat them on the spot.

In order to ensure customers can enjoy the most delicious chocolates possible even in Japan's high temperatures and humidity, extra thought has even been given to the boxes and tray in which the chocolates are sold. A bar designed to be a place to have fun located on the first floor of the Arima Toys & Automata Museum. Notable for its lack of entrance doors, giving the establishment an open and airy feeling, the bar carries a full selection of draft beers, wine, and other alcoholic beverages as well as food such as special sausages flavored with herbs. The lunchtime curry, created by the owner, is widely praised as delicious. eSports viewings and live exhibition matches between skilled players are held here, and clips of particularly fantastic moves are played on the bar's screen.

This udon noodle shop in a refurbished kominka (old Japanese-style house) with a traditional townhouse feel is a one-minute walk from JR Settsu-Motoyama Station's North Exit. Their popular udon dish featuring a superb combination of salty-sweet super-tender beef tendon and crispy fried eggplant comes recommended. They have lots of other creative dishes that go great with a drink too, like their Gorogoro Vegetable Cream of Tomato Udon and their Traditional Curry Udon.

This Japanese restaurant is approximately eight minutes on foot south of Hanshin Electric Railway's Ishiyagawa Station. It's run by the brewers of Fukuju sake, which has been served at the banquet for the Nobel Prize award ceremony. Guests sip on brews like their unprocessed sake and dine on elegant kaiseki banquet cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients and homemade tofu in a relocated Meiji period wooden storehouse. Their specialty Sakaya Nabe is made with light-brown miso and sake lees leftover from brewing Fukuju. Only available in winter, it features fresh fish, pork, vegetables, and other ingredients imbued with the flavor of the sake lees. Their Soba Zen Japanese style set meal also comes recommended, featuring homemade buckwheat soba noodles in a basket tray along with seasonal fish and vegetables.

The "Tsubo Pudding" in an unglazed jar is a masterpiece that combines sweet cream, savory homemade caramel, and rich custard. It is popular not only for home use but also as a souvenir.

This is an old Japanese-style confectionery shop in the Arima Onsen area of Kita Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, known for their famous Arima Tansan-Sembei (carbonated rice cracker) and “Yoiyu-Manju” (hot water steamed yeast bun). The Tansan-Sembei, first made at the end of the Meiji period by the shop’s founder with carbonated spring water, has remained a much-loved souvenir for hot spring visitors to this day. It is also a healthy sweet with absolutely no additives. The shop has a number of other sweets too, and in the adjacent tea corner one can enjoy a quiet moment with a tea and steamed Yoiyu-Manju.

Tea room mahisa, which opened in 1987, has consistently given patrons the opportunity to enjoy first-class tea made by adding plenty of milk to strong black tea. Being able to get the full, rough-edged flavor of the tea is the reason why Tea room mahisa has remained so popular.
