    Together with Motomachi-dori and Sakaemachi-dori in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Nankinmachi is one of Japan’s three largest China towns. Over 100 Chinese restaurants, grocers, and shops crowd an area some 200 meters long east to west and 110 meters north to south. Events such as the Chinese New Year Spring Festival held between January and February and Mid-Autumn Festival in either September or October attract large numbers of tourists in particular.

    This area is home to several Western-style residences that were built mostly between the Meiji period and the beginning of the Showa period. Located in Kitano Town, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, it is famous for the “Kazamidori House” and “Moegi House.” About 20 residences are open to the general public, and there are also several restaurants and museums housed in Western-style buildings. Since the opening of the Port of Kobe, this area has brimmed with a Showa port town atmosphere, making it a popular tourist attraction. The closest station is Sannomiya Station.

  • Kobe Sannomiya Center Gai Shopping Street

    This shopping district is available from Sannomiya Station on all lines. It is lined with shops from “Flower Road” all the way to Koikawasuji. It features a rare two-floor arcade design, which affords it a very open feel. You’ll find clothing, general goods, interior goods, books, restaurants, and many other shops here. Major stores such as Kobe Marui and Sannomiya Vivre are also available, and on days off nearly 100,000 people crowd this trendy district.

    "Several monuments inscribed with popular Japanese children's songs stand along this path in Tatsuno Park. There are eight monuments in total, including ones dedicated to ""Akatonbo"" by Tatsuno-born poet Rofu Miki, ""Sato no aki,"" ""Yuyake koyake,"" and ""Chisai aki mitsuketa."" Each monument is made of stone from the birthplace of the author who wrote the song."

    A promenade in the redeveloped Kobe Harborland district in Chuo Ward, Kobe City. The wooden boardwalk runs along the seafront from the side of the brick warehouse to the New Port Fifth Jetty Old Signal Station. With gas lamps and benches, it's a popular spot for a stroll while enjoying the scent of the sea. It also has a nice view of Kobe Port. At Harbor Walk's far end is the 46.3-meter New Port Fifth Jetty Old Signal Station that's bathed in soft light at night.

    Sakoshi is a port town in eastern Ako City on the shores of Sakoshi Bay. The area is blessed with an excellent natural environment that includes the virgin forests of Ikishima Island and the clear streams of the Chikusa River. Even now, Sakoshi retains an old townscape with the look of a port town of yesteryear. Unlike many of the towns in the Setouchi Region that developed along the shore, Sakoshi is notable for having developed along Daido, the avenue that connected the Chikusa River and Sakoshi Port. The avenue, which linked the Chikusa River's network of flatboats to the quiet Seto Inland Sea's network of large cargo vessels, is a clue of Sakoshi's history as a major logistical hub.

    About 5 minutes by car from the Wadayama IC of the Bantan Interchange Road and about 5 minutes on foot from JR Takeda Station. 600-meter walk at the foot of the ruins of Takeda Castle, also known as the Castle in the Sky, where four temples closely connected with Takeda Castle - Hokyuji, Shokenji, Jokoji and Zenjo-ji - and Omotehime Shrine are located side by side. The Omotehime Shrine has a semicircular stone stair-step sumo ring (designated as a cultural asset by the prefecture), which is rare in Japan.

    The path is a popular walking course, and is located about 5 minutes northeast of JR Akashi Station. The route also includes a number of temples, churches, and other historical buildings, allowing visitors to experience the passage of time.
