- This is a Japanese garden in Himeji City. The gardens were opened in 1992 and make the best use of the ruins of the samurai residence at Himeji Castle Nishioyashiki-ato. The gardens are on grounds of approximately 3.3 hectare and command a view of the World Heritage Site, Himeji Castle—and the gardens contains a group of nine different types of garden such as “The garden of the Lord’s residence” which has a large pond that is home to 250 colourful carp and a waterfall. The gardens are also used as a location for historical dramas as the gardens have scenery reminiscent of the Edo period such as the Tsuiji wall (mud wall with a tiled roof) and the Yashiki-mon Gate. It is well known as a site famed for its autumn leaves, and also holds an illumination during the season.

The area is one of the top soba noodle destinations in the Kansai region, and many soba restaurants stand eve to eve here serving Izuishi soba, a local specialty. - Together with Motomachi-dori and Sakaemachi-dori in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Nankinmachi is one of Japan’s three largest China towns. Over 100 Chinese restaurants, grocers, and shops crowd an area some 200 meters long east to west and 110 meters north to south. Events such as the Chinese New Year Spring Festival held between January and February and Mid-Autumn Festival in either September or October attract large numbers of tourists in particular.

- A viewing tower located in Kobe Port in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture distinguished by its unique shape which narrows in the middle. The tower is 108 meters tall. - An excursion style promenade installed on the girders of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in a corner of Maiko Park a five-minute walk from Maiko Station on the JR San'yo Main Line and Sanyo Electric Railway Maiko-koen Station. The 317-meter long promenade is positioned 47 meters above the surface of the ocean below. The walkway is modeled after an old-fashioned log bridge and features glass window floors on either side of a log, enabling visitors can enjoy a thrilling aerial walk high above the ocean in perfect safety. Information on the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is presented in the first-floor entranceway area. A camera system in the eighth-floor observation lounge enables visitors to experience what the view is like at the top of the one of the 300-meter-tall bridge's towers.

- This area is home to several Western-style residences that were built mostly between the Meiji period and the beginning of the Showa period. Located in Kitano Town, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, it is famous for the “Kazamidori House” and “Moegi House.” About 20 residences are open to the general public, and there are also several restaurants and museums housed in Western-style buildings. Since the opening of the Port of Kobe, this area has brimmed with a Showa port town atmosphere, making it a popular tourist attraction. The closest station is Sannomiya Station.

- Mr. Rokko has a variety of leisure facilities including a golf course, snow park, botanical garden and outdoor obstacle course. Mt. Rokko is also a famous place to enjoy the night scenery, and looking down from the observatory close to Rokko Sanjo Station is a continuous night view that looks across Kobe’s townscape all the way to Osaka Bay, which has been chosen as a Japanese Night View Heritage spot.

- Spanning the Akashi Kaikyo Straits and connecting Kobe City to Awajishima Island, this is the world’s longest suspension bridge with a total length of 3,911 meters. Construction started in 1988 and it was completed 10 years later in 1998. The main pillars of the bridge reach a height of approximately 300 meters from the surface of the water below, and at night the suspension cables are illuminated in a variety of colors. There is also a tour available called Akashi Kaikyo Ohashi Bridge World that allows visitors to pass through the inspection passageways in the main towers, which are normally off limits, while listening to information about the bridge’s technology and history (reservation required).

- This is a free observation lobby on the 24th floor of the Kobe City Hall Municipal Office no.1 building, located around a six-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, and a spot where one can see Kobe’s scenery from an elevation of 100 meters. Views stretch from Roko Island to Kobe City, the Port of Kobe and the Roko mountain range. As it is open until 10 p.m. it is also a popular spot to catch night views, such as the glittering lights of the city or the light of decorative illumination on the mountainsides. There are also cafes and restaurants available where one can eat while savoring the view.

- This observation deck is located in “Rokko Garden Terrace” in Nada Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. It boasts a unique design conceived of by architect Hiroshi Sanbuichi. The frames, walls, and floors use Japanese cedar from Yoshino, and the frame interior spreads like foliage, exuding a gentle scent. The observation deck offers a splendid view not only of Kobe City, but also Akashi Strait, Osaka Bay, and Kansai Airport. At night, there is an event in which the entire frame is illuminated by LEDs that can display over 10 million colors, creating an almost otherworldly sight amidst the Kobe night skyline.

- An observatory located close to the Hoden Gate and the Ashiya Gate on the Royu Driveway. A part of Setonaikai National Park, the observatory has been selected for inclusion in a list of Japan's 100 most beautiful night views due to the splendor of the city lights and starry sky visible from its location 645 meters above sea level. Used to film scenes for television dramas, visitors are also encouraged to enjoy a sunrise or sunset from the observatory. The observatory's most attractive feature is its expansive panoramic view which encompasses Osaka International Airport, Kansai International Airport, Awaji Island, Tomogashima Island, and the western Kansai region. A cafe operates at the observatory on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays and offers takeout. Visitors can also pick up tourism pamphlets here.

- A dam built to hold back the Shijimi River (also known as the Yamada River), a class A river flowing through Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. The concrete gravity dam stands 71.5 meters tall. The Hakogi House, the oldest extant home in Japan, was located in a settlement submerged with the building of the dam; the home was designated an Important Cultural Property and its Muromachi period main building and the Edo period detached room were moved some 70 meters away to safe ground before the flooding. A museum adjoins the home and the residence itself is open to the general public.

- A spiral-shaped bridge forming a figure eight over the Futatabisan Driveway on the way from the Kinsei-dai observatory to the observatory on top of Mt. Suwayama. - The garden is located on the west side of San-no-maru square in Himeji Castle, and visitors can see peonies in full bloom on the hillside. The Senhime Botan Festival is held around the end of April every year, with a variety of events including a parade in which a procession of the Princess Senhime-sama is carried into the castle.

- A dam built along the Kuro and Aono Rivers in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture. The waters which accumulate here are used to supply the Hokusetsu / Hokushin area centering on Sanda City. The lake created by the dam is also known as Senjoji Lake, taking its name from Mt. Senjoji towering in the distance above it. The dam area is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and there are a variety of facilities nearby which serve as relaxation spaces for local residents, such as Aono Dam Side Park, and visitors can enjoy black bass fishing, barbecuing, boating, canoeing, and other activities in the area. Few vehicles travel along the road, as well, and thus many like to stop along the side of the road to take in a view of the sea.
