In recent years, the market has also come to be a popular tourist destination, and one can frequently catch sight of visitors sampling the various wares on offer. - Dotonbori’s famous Glico sign seems to be peering into the Dotonbori River; meanwhile, a giant crab sign moves in a perpetual dance. Crowded with restaurants and lined with giant signs, Dotonbori is a bustling entertainment district where visitors can truly experience Osaka—the city of kuidaore (extravagant eating). Have a bite at a shop selling kushiage (fried vegetable and meat skewers) or okonomiyaki (savory pancakes filled with meat and vegetables), Osaka specialties. Or spend a day visiting the various takoyaki (octopus dumplings) or butaman (steamed pork bun) restaurants. Day and night, this lively thoroughfare is frequented by great numbers of tourists.

- Located on the western side of the site where the fifth National Industrial Exhibition was held in 1903, the approximately 92 thousand square meter neighborhood of Shinsekai was created to be “new highlight” of Osaka. Just to the north of the center of the area, visitors can find the Tsutenkaku Tower. Janjan Yokocho Alley, located in the southeast of Shinsekai, is lined with shops selling Osaka specialties like kushikatsu (fried pork and onions on skewers) and doteyaki (beef sinew in miso and mirin). The retro atmosphere, reminiscent of the Showa period, makes Shinsekai an extremely popular tourist attraction.

- An underground shopping mall located in Sennichimae, Chuo Ward, Osaka City. Centering on Nipponbashi Station on the Midosuji Line subway, the mall stretches 715 meters east to west, from subway Nipponbashi Station to JR Namba Station. The malls north and south corridors are lined with fashionable apparel shops, restaurants, food shops, and other establishments. There are also five squares used to host a variety of seasonal events.

- This is the nick name for the area near Nishi Shinsaibashi, Chuo Ward in Osaka. It is also said to be a center of youth culture, and also known as “Amemura”. This is an area for young people which has about 2,500 shops lined up which have developed into selling unique merchandise such as many second hand clothes shops, fashion shops and record stores. Sankaku Koen (Triangle Park) where young people get together has become a symbol of Americamura (America Village). In addition to being a place to meet up or have a rest, there are also events occasionally held here and it is always busy with young people who are aiming at being musicians or dancers. And one of the highlights is also the creative items of artwork.

- Sprawling from 3 to 5-chome in Nipponbashi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka City, Denden Town is one of Japan’s most famous “Electric Towns.” After the end of World War II, a succession of electronics stores opened up shop here, turning the area into a center for electronics and nerd culture. Today, many of the shops sell dojinshi (self-published zines), cosplay (costume) items, and action figures, and a portion of the neighborhood has affectionately come to be called the “Otaku (Nerd) Road.” As more and more shops start offering duty free shopping, the number of international tourists coming here has also been increasing.

- This street represents what is fashionable in Osaka, and is located approx. three minutes from the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line's Yotsubashi Station. It runs westward one street south of Amerika-mura Triangle Park. The 800-meter long street is lined with photogenic stores popular with young people such as cafes, boutiques, accessory shops, imported furniture stores and interior design shops. The neighborhood flourished as a furniture district from around the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate (1853-1867), and since there are traditional Japanese furniture dealers that have continued to operate since before World War II even now, it is a charming area with a mixture of old and new.

- Despite its location in the bustling Minami area of Osaka, a still and ancient air hangs about Hozenji Yokocho Alley reminiscent of old Naniwa (Osaka). This stone-paved alley, famous in part through Sakunosuke Oda’s novel Meoto Zenzai, is crowded with some 60 tiny restaurants and bars. In total, the alley is around 80 meters long. Throughout the day, the alley is visited by an unending stream of people. In the afternoon, you can visit the Hozen-ji Temple, nicknamed the “Mizukake Fudo,” or enjoy a bowl of sweet red bean zenzai soup; at night, partake in a dinner or a cup of sake.

- This is a shopping street in Naniwa Ward, Osaka City, located in the south eastern part of the Osaka sightseeing spot “Shinsekai” (New World). The official name is “Nan-yo-dori Shopping Street” but is affectionately called “Janjan” derived from the sound of shamisen that were played in the once red-light district. Places to play board games of shogi and go, as well as retro amusement shops are still operating today. There are several restaurants serving the New World specialty kushikatsu (skewers of fried food) and reasonably priced downtown gourmet and the area is becoming a popular spot for tourists.

- This restaurant quarter is located under the railway girders between Hankyu Department Store on the east side of JR Osaka Station and Hankyu Umeda Station. 18 shops were opened in 1950 as a relief project for retirees of facilities related to the former Japanese National Railways. There are now approx. 100 restaurants including Japanese cuisine, western cuisine, Chinese cuisine, standing bars and fast food restaurants that are bustling with customers every day.

- This hidden gourmet street is located close to Umeda Station. Along the narrow alleyway, there are various kinds of shops nestled up to one another. The variety is truly rich, with everything from Italian, French, sushi, oyster bars, live shrimp bars, grilled pork skewers, beef or pork tripe hotpots, charcoal grilled meat, kushiage and Okinawan cuisine, to taverns and public bars. Because there is only a small distance between different shops, many people go pub crawling here. The lunch menus are also very satisfying.

- The 100-meter-long shopping street is located on the western side of JR Tamatsukuri Station. Near Sanko Shrine, said to be where Sanada Maru was built, it became famous as a site connected to Yukimura Sanada. On the shopping street, there are life-sized panels of the Sanada 10 Braves, and it is decorated with bright red flag banners displaying Sanada's rokumonsen (six coins) emblem. At eateries with shop curtains on the street, there are many Yukimura Sanada-themed menus. Among them, there is also a photo studio where you can take photographs as Yukimura Sanada if you make a reservation.

- In a corner of a shopping street spread through the east side of the JR Loop Line's Tsuruhashi Station, it is lined with stores mainly using the space under the elevated train tracks. With the surrounding area the Korea Town built after World War II, there are many shops in the market that carry authentic fresh Korean food ingredients such as kimchi, restaurants selling yakiniku BBQ, and stores for clothing like jeogori traditional Korean clothing and other accessories. Together with the neighboring shopping street, the area was chosen as one of Japan's top 100 locations with good aromas by the Ministry of the Environment because of the bustle and fragrance of kimchi and yakiniku wafting throughout the general area.
